Strange Dawn http://www.greencine.com/webCatalog?id=16758&element=strange+dawn
It was marketed (sort of) for kids, but it is actually a really good show. It's a new twist on an old idea. Two girls are transported to an alien world in habited by little (they come up to about the girls knees) water sprite creatures who call themeless human. The two girls are told that they are the "great protectors" who must save the land from war.
This has been done before, but here is why it's cool. The water sprites, are really very human like. They all seem cute, but they all have very human emotions, and feelings. They have their own made up culture (for example, they feel it shameful to show others your feet, especially your toes) as well as political intrigue. (like gundam) However, as you watch, you slowly start feeling that the little water sprites are normal, and the humans are the ones who are strange. Much humor is used in the beginning of the show because these little water sprites act so human, but you soon start laughing more at the humans for acting strangely in their new environment.
Add in an attempted rape sequence, and a surprising amount of blood, and you have a show that is NOT for kids. The dub is pretty bad though, so if that's your thing, it's not going to be worth it. Lets just say bad english accents, and a lot of mindless lib flab. Good for a laugh though. (and I do love english accents...)
Anyway, only two dvds (7 eps.) have been released, and they are just sitting on the title now. (stupid Urban Vision, hurry up with Ninja Scroll) If you like it, send Urban Vision an e-mail to finish the damn thing. *cry* |

| Man, I own the 2 Strange Dawn DVDs... it's a quirky little show, to be sure... Someone should circulate a fansub of the rest of the series because it doesn't look like the rest of the series is gonna ever be published... |

I own them as well, I even own (for some strange reason) the edited dubbed Vhs version.
...I so want that show to be finished off, fan subs would be wonderful, but the show simply is not know by enough people for this to happen.
...Might want to try that e-mailing Uraban Vision thing... |

Speaking of good shows that will never be published, Tatton Master. ADV released a Vhs, of like 3 eps. but I think there is more to that show. I bought the vhs (and then promply lost, I lent it to someone...) but it seems it will never be brought on dvd, or be finished. *cry again!* |

I'll look into it.
Along the same lines, Gargolys is coming out soon. (the first season)
That show was really the best american animation thing I have seen so far. It really opened the way for me to see cartoons, as well, anime, all those years ago. |

If you think piggy is a DDR addict based on his/her icon, take a look at hneline1... stare at her icon for a bit, because it's animated. |

Here is an enthusiastic second for Invader Zim. Hilarious show, although as the series goes on it gets less interesting and starts to look and sound more and more like standard Cartoon Network fare. The first season, at the very least, should be required viewing. |
