the wait is over for "KALEIDO STAR: NEW WINGS" - Vol. 1 of this 6 DVD set. GC has it listed for rental although web sites have it listed as releasing 03/01/05 or TBA.

sorry but so far this is your answer (exerpt taken from "ASK JOHN" ANIME NATITON - 06/29/04)

The situation regarding the American release of the Super GALS! Kotobuki Ran anime TV series is a bit perplexing. The show does indeed have 52 episodes, but only half of them have been released in America. Anyone that's been to one of AD Vision's convention panels knows that the American release status of the second half of the series is now something of a running joke for company representatives who refuse to "confirm or deny" whether the remainder of the series will ever be released domestically....
I'm guessing that there's some sort of hold-up on the Japanese DVD release of the second half of the series, which is summarily delaying the American release of the remainder of the series. It's unlikely that the Japanese licensor and home video distributor will allow an American DVD release before a Japanese DVD release. (There are instances of this occurring, but such instances are rare.) So unfortunately, at this point there's no way of knowing whether or not the remaining Super GALS! episodes will ever see American release.

ADV is screwing around again, with one of my favorite series from the past year... From AnimeOnDVD....

Princess Tutu Canceled? (07:12 PM EST): According to a couple of retailers, Princess Tutu Vol. #2 has been moved from its release date to either a To Be Announced date or outright removed from the system. No information has been sent out in general regarding this though with at least three retailers chiming in, it appears they are getting the same information from someone. According to an update just recently from ADV's David Williams, he had this to say: "Chances are, it looks at this point that it will have to be delayed a bit due to a couple of things that popped up with this volume. But don't worry, we still plan to get it out and push the show. Maybe it will help to know that there should be some updates coming to the Princess Tutu website shorty."

How can they object to fansubs when one of the very reasons fansubs exist is because commercial companys try to pull crap like this? I wonder what the "couple of things" could be?

from ANIME NEWS NETWORK - 03/27/05:

AD Vision announced that, as a response to reduced mainstream retail support for certain titles, some AD Vision anime series will become available for purchase exclusively from AD Vision directly. Titles scheduled for discount priced, "web exclusive" sales include Princess Tutu, Petite Princess Yucie, and Wedding Peach.

from ANIME ON DVD - 03/30/05:

AD Vision representative Allen Divers has clarified statements made by AD Vision's Matt Greenfield at last weekend's Kamikaze Con regarding titles such as Princess Tutu, Petit Princess Yucie, and Wedding Peach becoming "web exclusive" titles. Apparently these series are not technically online exclusive; they're simply not carried by most walk-in retail stores. "These titles will continue to be pushed out to the traditional brick and mortar retailers as well, but due to competition and lack of shelf space will not always be picked up by these locations."

I wonder when they'll get the next volume of Princess Tutu out. I couldn't afford to be more than mildly annoyed when they delayed it, since I'm also in the middle of buying Chrono Crusade (among others), but I do hope they get on with it.
As a whole, I have to say that I like ADV, but they seem to be having some trouble lately. Their cuts in their manga line have left a lot of people hanging. My best friend is none to happy with them since she was following a couple of their series and is now unsure if she will ever get to finish them.

DBooher, your inbox is full. ^_^

I saw a trailer for Chrono Crusade, what's so great about it?

This is an Anime Works titles...but wtf is with the schitzophrenic storyline on The Twelve Kingdoms? Am I missing something here, or did they spend a number of episodes on the Black Kieran (sp?) and then leave it open by the end of the series? *vicious mutter*

As for companies...I'm finding a lot of the stuff I'm looking forward to (which, admittedly, isn't a WHOLE LOT) is coming out from Viz. The Count Cain manga series for one. ^_^

update ANIME NEWS NETWORK - 06/21/05:

Regarding the second seasons of Kaleidostar and Supergals (episodes 27-52 each), ADV has the license for the second season of Kaleidostar and has done some production work on it, however they do not have the license for the second season of Supergals. Neither series sold as well as expected, however ADV is possibly going to release ThinPak collection of each series. If the ThinPak sales are decent enough there is a good chance they will release the second seasons. Otherwise it is unlikely that those episodes will be released by ADV.

Jeez, they really know how to jerk people around! "No we're not." "Yes we are!" "No we're not." "Oh, wait. Yeah we are." "Oh, we were kidding! Really, we probably aren't."

Dammnit, if you're going to release a series, release all of it or none of it! I've dutifully supported their releases of these anime!

Good News:

ADV Announces Second Season of Kaleidostar (2005-06-27 11:49:45)
David Williams confirmed at Metrocon this past weekend that ADV Films will release the second season of Kaleido Star. Last weekend at Anime Next the second season release was uncertain. Source: Animenation [ discuss (23 posts) ]

Let's hope they don't change their mind again.

It's very character driven and has a very wierd setting...the characters are what makes it awesome though. It's marked the first time I ever bought any manga :)

On another note, Full Metal Panic Fumoffo disc 1 is finally out. Rock on! (watched it a few weeks ago, so I know it's not entirely new)

I still don't have season 2 of either series. I personally hate you ADV and will never ever ever for the rest of my life buy one of your dvd's again. I will rent it, but I won't buy it after that, b/c I want to spite you.

End rant. Now I feel better :)

I think that ADV Films make a mistake when they assume that they should only release the second season of Super Gals only if the first season sell well. That kind of attitudes will definetely piss off anime fans, especially those who enjoy the show. Thus, result in less overall sell for the company because if one think about it. It makes sense that anime fans are less likely to buy an incomplete show. Anyway, I just hope that ADV Films release the second season ASSP, if not we can curse all of the AVD Films staffs' ancestors so that they may burn in hell! (I hope someone at ADV films read this.)
