Well, based on my limited exposure to anime, I think the absolute worst opener was Requiem From the Darkness. First of all, extremely, gratingly wrong tone for a cheesy gorey horror anime, secondly, I just can't stand that sort of jazz vocal. I get the impression that this sort of music has been popular in Japan relatively recently; anyone know whether that's true?
The worst single lyric so far (at least going by the translation) would have to be the closing theme from Texnhnolyze, an otherwise beautiful song: in the middle of this very heartfelt sounding lullaby it says something about "your brilliant white t-shirt". I laugh and laugh every time I see that.
The first closing Inuyasha theme was horrible, too, I thought. |
