Yeah, I'm expecting the "narrative" to meander and go out of focus like Sakura Wars did. I wish the characters were more appealing...

> Thanks for setting me straight about Boogiepop. Wasn't a soundtrack released on CD at some point? Maybe I'll try to track a copy down.

The Right Stuf has it in stock and they should be rewarded for bringing orphan anime (like the second season of SuperGals) to Region 1. Anime On DVD has a review of the 2-CD set.

Weeeee! I just love Sensei soooo much. hehe

So the Nodame Cantabile anime is pretty good. Just five eps released though. I dunno if I want to invest myself into a series with only five released...the waiting...drives me batty. *Waves at Battie*
I will check out the Live Action--since I have become a live action retard lately.

The last K-drama I saw was A Love to Kill and that depressed the CRAP outta me. Man, Rain sure can act though.

But Back to anime: I have a new fav that's not really shoujo. *Gasp* It's been mentioned before, but besides the other music anime which I *heart* (what's is called, La Corda something something) I'm really into Ghost Hunt.

What do I love about it the most? No filler episodes!! Every episode has me on the edge--we're talkin teeter-tauter edge--of my seat. I cannot wait for episode 19. I'm DYING. AHHHH!!! I feel out of love with Bokura Ga Ita around episode 22. I hate when that happens to me dammit. But so much good stuff! Again H-sensei, thanks for keeping the boards lively with whats "wooo!" and what's "boooo" with the fansub releases. You rock, but that's why you're sensei, deshou.

And wow, what's goin on the Greencine webpage? Makeover? *Nods* Pretty nice.

omg, I had exactly the same reaction. I was thinking it was pretty sad of me to get all the way to ep 23 and not be able to stomach the last 3 episodes. But I refuse to watch them! I'm so annoyed with how slow and well... annoying the story has become.

But I really like Nodame Cantibile also. It's really cute.

I guess I have to check out Ghost Hunt now.

I haven't seen any Bokura ga Ita since the Cultural Festival night episode with the big bonfire.... Did they ever get past third base?

Also, you really like Ghost Hunt? Here's my review from last October after I gave up on it.

Ghost Hunt - Mildly interesting but very pedestrian supernatural shoujo anime set in a high school. The main character is a klutzy but outspoken girl named Mai. She stumbles and wrecks a video camera and causes some injury to the assistant of a young ghost hunter named Kazuya Shibuya. In lieu of paying for the camera she ends up being his replacement assistant. Mai begins to call Kazuya "Naru" for Narcissist because of his aloof and confident manner. Naru is a 17 year old genius ghost hunter who was hired by the school principal to investigate the haunting of the old school building. The building was scheduled for demolition, but a series of unfortunate events scared the contractors away. Mai helps Naru set up his equipment, but soon competition arrives. Apparently the principal wants to make sure the ghost problem is solved once and for all. There's a hunky long haired Buddhist monk on sabbatical, a sexy Shinto priestess, a 19 year old Catholic exorcist from Australia who speaks with an Osaka dialect, and a young girl in a kimono who is famous on TV as a spirit medium. Add to this a creepy girl from Mai's grade who says she can sense spirits but may just be trying to get attention.

The only thing this show really has going for it is the spirited voice acting for Mai. The voices for the other characters are just adequate. The animation is pretty good. But the script is pretty sucky. The ending of the first episode really didn't leave me craving more. This show gets the award for Lamest OP Sequence.... They spent all their money on an orchestra and didn't have anything left for the visuals apparently. Lights and cloudy images shoot at you from the screen while Danny Elfman ripoff music plays in the background. Finally there's a blinding light.... You wanna shout, "Don't.... go.... toward.... this anime...." The ED music and visuals are pretty at least. But still kinda boring.

As for Nodame Cantabile, at this point I gotta say the live action show was BETTER on the whole, although Ayako Kawasumi's voice performance for Nodame is still super. Both the live action and anime shows seem to be pretty true to the original manga, although the character designs in the anime "look" more like the original characters, of course. It seems weird, but the live action version is cartoonier and yes, it was funnier. Plus I think the live action version will turn out to be more romantic at the end, thanks to the actors....

They must have taken that down because the link is broke and a search of the website it links to doesn't turn up the files. :( I dl'd the first two episodes the other day and really liked it. Chiaki's hair makes me chuckle, but he sure is a hottie! *drool* Only all the other subs I've found are Chinese!!! *cries*

And I officially hate the (non)subbers for Nana.

Go to D-addicts and download the MHfans files (not the BIG5 ones, which are Chinese soft-subbed) and I'll send you the English soft-subs, if you want.

Yes Alix you HAVE to watch the live action version of Nodame Cantabile for if nothing else, this:
the lead guy is sooooooooo pretty!!!

I'm horrible with names, and I don't feel like googling them but OMG he's pretty. Why can't he live closer to me!!??? Sometimes I'd lean in so close my face'd hit the screen. (Kidding) But so pretty. Ever so pretty.
Also, Garbage Girl, her character and the way she played it so better than awesome. I officially love that actress. Also, if you're into any classical music: the music selections: awesome. I find some classical boring, but not one of the pieces chosen for this dorama was anything but "I need to download this NOW." The only downfall of the series is that IT'S TOO SHORT!! SEASON TWO HURRY UP AND HAPPEN!!!!!

Sensei did not like Ghost Hunt, ne. I remembered that--but I reaaally like how creepy it gets--especially around the bloody labyrinth episodes.

Besides those, I haven't found a shoujo title I'm in love with yet. *Sigh* Or even any new anime title that make me go "Oooooh. I must follow series or I will perish." Well except for a kind of old news title for you guys: Death Note.

Official Dbooher Death Note critique: WHY DIDN'T ANYONE TELL ME THAT IT WOULD BE SO AWESOME?! SERIOUSLY I FEEL BETRAYYYYED. But better I started watching it when it was 18 episodes deep because I would have been KILLING ppl waiting for those releases. Those damn cliff hanger endings around episode 9 where like "AHHHHH!!!! Oh wait--I have the next one, phew."

PS: Alix watch the Live Action!!!!!

If you love Juri like I love Juri I have to tell you to get two movies. Summer Time Machine Blues (the lead guy is the actor who plays Mine in Nodame Cantabile, with normal hair). Apparently when they were filming Summer Time Machine Blues everyone in the cast EXCEPT for Juri Ueno were reading the Nodame manga. They were talking about a possible movie version and they all said if anyone was a natural for playing Nodame it HAD to be Juri.

The other film is Swing Girls, which came after the Nodame Cantabile manga but before the TV show and anime. Juri Ueno learned how to play sax for this film, and the teacher who ends up coaching the Swing Girls Big Band is played by Naoto Takenaka, who plays Milch in Nodame live action (with a normal nose and usual baldness).

Juri is excellent in both these films, and there are torrents and subs floating around.

I've been enjoying La Corda D'Oro Primo Passo, which is also rooted in classical music. The one thing I hate about Nana is how the same 4 or 5 songs are used over and over again. No such problem with classical music... there's so much to choose from!

> The only downfall of the series is that IT'S TOO SHORT!! SEASON TWO HURRY UP AND HAPPEN!!!!!

I don't think there will be a season two. They would have to film it mostly in Europe so it would be too expensive to make. It's more likely they would continue the story into the European sections in the anime, because they won't actually have to send a crew there.

But-but Sensei, they made a season 2 of Hana Yori Dango--and a nice chunk of it was shot in New York. That's expensive too...right? *crosses fingers*

Raeideen is a no-go. <_< I got all of 1 minute into it, if that, and knew it was a no-go.

Giant robots and the idolization of a "pretty" girl. UGH. I don't even like giant robots and the idolization of a pretty BOY.

Yeah, why don't you give Transformers a try next, Battie... from the genre of anime designed to sell toys to elementary school boys...

I'm watching this really weird OVA called TO-Y. About a male idol singer. It's really weird.
