| Here I've been busy for the last few months and I see that exactly TWO new threads are here. Where is everyone? |

They've been waiting for you to keep the chatter up! ;-)
More then 2 new threads now, but, yeah, we try.
Once again we're looking at new forums software and this time we're actually gonna do it -- by gum! I think that will help.
Okay, AH, start some anime discussion. Let's have it! |

well im not watching all that much anime at the moment.
Druaga season 2 Toradora and Tytania
lets see Druaga I enjoy but its not for everyone. Toradora is cliched and obvious and I absolutely despise the main female lead. Tytania has jumped the shark, turned around and jumped it again, it absolutely sucks but I cannot stop watching because its space opera and they air maybe once every few years.
Yup not watching anything else at the moment. Vampire Knight Guilty sucked and had one of the worst endings of all time. Kurozuka was good albeit very short. I liked Real Drive a lot but not for the main two characters, it was more of the side characters and the animation that did it for me.
That about sums it up.

I have seen some excellent forums that use phpBB, which has been around since 2000 and is free under the GNU General Public License and soooooo customizable and sure to keep your PHP programmer happy with Things to Do.
But I bet you may all ready know this.
And did you say anime? What is the deal on the final disc of "Welcome to the NHK" - will it EVER be available? I thought that when ADV lost the license to it and Kanon, it would be a long time but Kanon was finally available from Funimation.
"Kanon" rocks. Ever better than "Air". Now, I would talk about Clannad but it is not yet available for Region 1.....until next MONTH! Visual Key is my current passion....and source of a lot of tears. Sooo touching.
I think when I am in my next relationship, I would watch the Kanon series with her and we get to the end and she has not shed a tear, then I would know she is not right for me! |

ooh I hate phpBB. A board I admin used it in the past and we switched to SMF which, from personal experience, has been much better.
I'd say SMF is better, hands down, period... the number one reason is security. phpBB is and has always been a security nightmare; it's programmed so poorly that even if you ARE on the very latest version (and upgrading can be a huge bitch), getting hacked is not uncommon. The board crashed several times with phpBB but since switching to SMF we haven't crashed once.
It's also far easier to install modules for SMF; rarely do you ever have to edit code unless you're using a non-standard template.
Granted, I have not used phpBB version 3 and above... but the same people are responsible for it, and I have a hard time believing it's significantly better. Besides, even if it has been improved by leaps and bounds, it'll still be playing catch-up with SMF. |

Ok, how about this?
Some people watch fansubs, others wait till things come out on DVD.
So,
1) What's good that's not released yet?
2) What's good that's been released recently?
(And of course the converse of both.)

Good to know! I have no first hand knowledge. I had my fill of programming about 2003 or so and as hard as I try to convince myself that I should return to that life, I can't.
I think I have post-traumatic stress from all those endless meetings with marketing forward by many sleepless nights of debugging the wrong things. But this "SMF" sounds interesting.

The thing is, there is almost as different kinds of anime as there are of film. Except it all has a Japanese flavor to it (but then, I have seen two animations from Korea, a different flavor to be sure).
I mean consider "Pokemon" to "Cowboy Bebop" to "The Excel Saga" to "Noir" to "Air" to "Bible Black" - all very different.
What do you want?
And no, I am not and never have been, with the Shadows.

| Depending upon what comes out of a local city council meeting on 4 March, I may have to cut back my relaxation and entertainment expenses. |
