i have no clue what this icon is but no one else uses it.

years ago, after the credits of DOCTOR DETROIT, they said COMING SOON... "MOM'S REVENGE". that and someone telling me they were waiting for a sequel to THELMA AND LOUISE always led me to wonder if some sequels are vapor celluloid.

thus far, i have read that there are sequels to THE BIG O , BANNER OF THE STARS , BLUE SEED , EXCEL SAGA (PUNI PUNI POEMI) and LEGEND OF THE DRAGON KINGS . any comments?

It's not anime, but Buckaroo Banzai mentioned a sequel at the end.

Which was the sequel? Crest of the Stars or Banner of the Stars?

Here is some info I found (these are series I'd like to watch as well). It looks like Banner of the Stars II will be released in the US this August...at least according to a couple of sites. http://www.anime-tourist.com/article.php?sid=449. The official Bandai website doesn't mention this, but they don't have any info on BotS disk3, and GC already has it.

I know PUNI PUNI POEMI was made b/c I found it on ebay :)

It looks like its only 2 episodes, so I'm not sure if they ever will release it in the US. Here is the official web page (if you can understand it...I can't)

The Big O season 2 is coming to Cartoon Network in August. (August 31st I believe). My understanding is that there wasn't originally going to be a second season. However, season 1 was so popular here (it wasn't so sucessful in Japan) that CN actually commissioned a second season. Considering the first ended in such a cliffhanger, the fans should be pleased...

Also not anime, but just before the end credits, The Sword and the Sorcerer promises "Watch for Talon's next adventure: 'Tales of the Ancient Empire' / coming soon"

But they must have been using the Carl Sagan "Cosmic Calendar" to define "soon" because it's now more than two decades later and Tales of the Ancient Empire has yet to be made.

kingcole,

thank you for that one. even thought the discussion title has anime in it, this is giving me more info to start a
"movie list" that references "TBC's MIA".

Since this topic has wondered off anime, I'll add:

Mel Brooks' History of the World Part II.

(SEE! Hitler on ice!....)

Apologies... Part II was the non-existant sequel (as alluded to in Part I).

Apparently Puni Puni Poemi does exist and will be released in the US by ADV. I can't find the link (the ADV site has nothing), but they announced at a convention that they will release it after the Nadesico movie which should be late this year maybe early next.
