| I'm trying to remember the name of a movie I saw a long time ago. What I do remember is the plot had the protagonist inheriting his rich grandfather's watch and the watch can stop time. Does this sound familiar to anyone? |

I'm assuming it's not Clockstoppers, because that's too recent and doesn't have the grandfather's watch aspect... but I can't think of any others off the top of my head. Do you recall if it was based on a short sci-fi story?
I'm sure someone can dig this up for you...

Ooh, yeah, Woozy's got it! That's got to be it.
Bummer it's not out on DVD.
I'm having deja vu - didn't someone ask about this film once before here? Or did I just go forward in time after experiencing this question in the past?

| Kind of funny. Searching "watch stop time" in plot in IMDB found far fewer movies than I expected and completely missed Clockstoppers which I assumed would just clog my search with false hits. |

The NY times had this info.
& Everything The Girl, the Gold Watch and Everything 1980 - USA
Type: Features Rating: NR Running Time: 100 minutes Starring: Robert Hays Directed by: William Wiard PLOT DESCRIPTION John D. MacDonald's offbeat semifantasy novel The Girl, the Gold Watch and Everything was enjoyably hoked up for television in this "Operation Prime Time" presentation. Robert Hays stars as Kirby Winter, an unprepossessing chap who inherits a gold watch from his late uncle. Kirby soon discovers that the watch has the power to stop time. It also provides a clue to a hidden fortune, meaning that there's trouble aplenty in store for Kirby and his air-headed girlfriend Bonnie Lee Beaumont (Pam Dawber). First syndicated to local stations on October 13, 1980, The Girl, the Gold Watch and Everything was offered in two versions: as a standard 2-hour movie, and as cliff-hanging series of five half-hour programs. So successful was this non-network effort that it spawned a 1981 sequel, The Girl, the Gold Watch and Dynamite. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
& Dynamite The Girl, the Gold Watch and Dynamite 1981 - USA
Type: Features Rating: NR Running Time: 100 minutes Starring: Carol Lawrence, Jerry Mathers Directed by: Hy Averback PLOT DESCRIPTION This made-for-TV follow-up to 1980's The Girl, the Gold Watch and Everything stars Lee Purcell and Philip MacHale as Bonnie Lee Beaumont and Kirby Winter, roles created in the earlier film by Pam Dawber and Robert Hays. Once more, the hapless Kirby is the possessor of a magic watch that can stop time all around him--and once more, the watch causes him and his fiancee Bonnie Lee nothing but trouble. This time, hero and heroine are pitted against evil land baron Hoover Hess III (Burton Gilliam), who isn't above committing foul play to get what he wants. What Hoover wants, by the way, is a patch of valuable land owned by Bonnie Lee's mother (Carol Lawrence). Among the singular pleasures in this whimsical adventure yarn is the appearance of Jerry Mathers, Beaver Cleaver himself, as one of the bad guys! Based on characters created by John D. MacDonald, The Girl, the Gold Watch and Dynamite was first syndicated to local TV stations May 21, 1984, as part of the "Operation Prime Time" series. It was offered as both a 2-hour movie, and as a series of five half-hour programs. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
So which was it? Pam Dawber or Morgan Fairchild?

Oh yeah, I remember them. Other than that "one" song, they haven't done anything lately. I know the guy mixes once in a while, and is actually good. She lends out her talent to other remix projects as well, but obviously they're better together. I'd say they hit their stride in the eighties.
Wait, are we talking about the same thing? |
