| Has anybody seen this movie or even heard anything about this movie playing in the US. It looks amazing to me. took 4 years to shoot and it was shot in 18 countries i think. People who have seen it, is it as good as the trailer makes it look? |

I saw it Monday night. There are definitely some really cool, eye popping scenes. I really enjoyed the opening and closing scenes and the color palettes used to tell the epic/mythical tale. The filmmaker seems to have been inspired by Dali's colors and desert imagery.
You have to take the story with a grain of salt. There are definitely some eye-roll inducing overly melodramatic scenes. The score was overly orchestrated and brought the movie down at some parts.
But it was a feast for the eyes, definitely worth checking out in theaters, IMO. The performances were great and there were some good jokes. Let me know how it goes for you :) |

There were some reviews of it posted in an entry on GreenCine Daily awhile back. Very mixed reviews but also heard it's still one to see, and hard to forget... |

| If it's the guy who made the cell I won't be seeing it. Blatant rip off of Tarkovsky visually, absolutely nothing to back it up. Totally vacuous. |

It's worth seeing for the little girl's performance.

I also thought that it was worth it to see because the director claims to have made the movie without any CGI. |

I liked the film's visuals but wasn't a huge fan of the story. Nonetheless, his next project sounds exciting. At the very least, you know the story is going to equate to some amazing eye-candy:
"If there was ever a director perfectly suited to tackle a tale about warring Gods, it's Tarsem Singh (The Fall). Say what you will about the man's ability to tell a story, but there is no director working today who has more of a flair for the visually dramatic than Mr. Singh. He recently spoke with Empire magazine about his current film, The Fall, when the subject changed to Singh's upcoming fantasy tale for Relativity Media, War of the Gods. Singh tells Empire, "It's turning into, basically, Caravaggio meets Fight Club, it's a really hardcore action film done in Renaissance painting style. I want to see how that goes; it's turned into something really cool" -- I don't know about you, but he had me at "Caravaggio meets Fight Club". " |
