Well pauly shore is about as annoying as carrot top, I dont understand how he ever got famous... I know it was something to do with mtv but even so... it doesn't make sense then or now.
also those ratings are largely bad, not that the pauly shore flick biodome at #1 was bad... but justin to kelly and glitter at 44 and 45... those should be top ten (never saw them but I can imagine)
lastly they have 3 really good movies on there that I like on that list. Cabin Boy, Love Stinks and Joe Dirt dont deserve to be on a worst movie of all times list. Critics dont have a sense of humor if they rate those in the bottom 200.

also where are the ben affleck movies? Paycheck definitely is one of the worst films ive ever seen.
Oh and I saw wing commander on that list... man I forgot I even saw that... yeah that movie is terrible. It was probably so traumatically bad I forgot about it. |

I agree, Cabin Boy and Joe Dirt most definitely DO NOT belong on that list.
I haven't seen Love Stinks.
But I don't think The Ladies Man belongs on there either.
But I admit, I even laughed at Corky Romano. |

Pauly Shore is awesome. But I suspect his popularity was due largely to weed.
I watched The Doom Generation recently (first time since I was 11-12)..and it made me realize that some flicks should not be seen by the young and impressionable. >_> That movie warped me. I am who I am today, partly thanks to that flick. Boggles the mind, no? Watching it explained soooo much.
Anyway, the IMDB review says TDG was terrible, but I disagree. I thought it captured a certain mood during a certain time rather well. And the lighting freaked me out. I can remember being in strange places with similar lighting (the cabin in a diesel truck, hotel rooms, etc). Strange how I'd never noticed how fake lighting in movies often is. Especially today's movies. |

Speaking of among the worst films of 2008, The Happening, you simply must download the Rifftrax guys (former Mystery Science Theater folks) doing up, or tearing down, The Happening in fine style.
Truly hilarious. If you're going to watch that movie a second time (or even a first), this is the safest most enjoyable way to do it. Check the sample clip out.

"There's a point where a camera can get too close to Mark Wahlberg and they just crossed it." |

I saw it in DLP on a HUGE screen (about 30 feet across maybe). It was GREAT! I know, the plot reeked, the actors phoned it in but it was Speed Racer. Who could take it seriously?
I will never rent it or probably see it again, but I enjoyed that one time.

To be fair, and I love his other stuff so it's not bias, Frank Miller is about the worst thing that could have happened to The Spirit. He must have secretly hated Will Eisner. |

People have told me that both Baby Mama and Get Smart are funny, but I haven't seen them to judge for myself.

Could've been the worst films you saw this year, sure, though:
Meet the Spartans -- Yes, truly awful. Baby Mama - didn't see it; love Tina Fey but no interest Get Smart - mediocre, not terrible at all imho but not all that good or funny
Hopefully we've all avoided the worst films of the year anyway!

Great idea -- well, we can just keep it going here for now.
Cadillac Records - not bad but I was hoping for something better. Jeffrey Wright is terrific as always though.
I actually didn't see it but heard Zack and Miri Make a Porno ended up quite poor. I didn't have high hopes for it, but like Rogen and Heigl and thought if Kevin Smith was gonna get back on track that would be the one. Apparently not.
Australia? Body of Lies? Pride and Glory?

| The Day the Earth Stood Still. How could it be so utterly mediocre? I mean, bad would at least mean they tried. |

| Body Of Lies was pretty ho-hum in my opinion, but I don't go to the theater enough to really make an year-end judgements. But Body of Lies suffered from being one movie for an hour, then a completely different movie for 45 minutes, then the first movie resumed. And it never was very compelling overall. |

Guess I just really don't like Steve Carell.Ugggh.But,he was good in Little Miss Sunshine. But,I love Anne Hathaway and that made me want to finish the dvd.lol Baby Mama and Meet the Spartans both just seemed like a BIG waste of time.

The Dark Knight
Heath Ledger's performance was incredible, but overall the movie was a huge let down. It's a shame his talent was wasted on it.
Keep in mind I guess I haven't watched too many really bad movies.
Oh, and actually Get Smart and Iron Man are runners up. I felt like a stooge for paying money to see all of these movies. |

Still, I had to see "The Dark Knight" to see what the masses were drooling about and it just scares me that something so fracking dark with a character so hideously evil was so popular. Reminds me of the 1980 Presidental Election or as I like to call it, the End of Civilization as we knew it. |

Well, as a passing Batman fan (cred: read The Dark Knight Returns several times, along with other "boutique" Batman rehashes in comic book form), I really thought Ledger was astounding. I never thought anyone could make that character real in live action. If anything, I thought it wasn't dark enough; all that grating pabulum about sacrifice for the common good, so awfully written -- revolting! And the Bruce Wayne scenes, just ick is really all I can say. I like Bale generally, but the script was so sucky it just sank him.
Thank you for listening to my rant. :)
And I do agree with you overall...! |
