Or did this generally soulless film just stink?
I was forced to watch it TWICE over the holidays and the second viewing only affirmed what I was a little bit in denial to say the first time because of what admiration of Fincher I had, but the film just plain sucks! The only genuinely enjoyable thing I took from the film was being able to imitate and make fun of old-baby Benjamin's voice. |

It's not just you! The more I think about this film the more my dislike for it grows, unfortunately. Initially, I was a bit won over by the pretty costumes and Cate Blanchett's hotness, but, looking back, the film is emotionally empty and waaaay too long.
Although it gets #1 spot in my book for best running joke in a movie for '08! |

| Who forces Troublemaker to watch Benjamin Button TWICE in a short span? Did you do your christmas break at Guantanamo? |

that movie is a forced Oscar attempt by the studio, a man that ages backwards? so he dies as a baby? if it wins just one Oscar then I will lose all faith in the film industry.

| Well, a lot of critics have liked this one, too. Inexplicably or not. Still, I don't think it has enough either buzz or critical weight behind it for it to get too many Oscar noms. |

| I almost went to see this, but I saw Slumdog Millionaire and Doubt instead. The former was great fun and the latter had some great acting, but watch out for the heavy metaphors, like the "wind of change" that Meryl Streep has to keep slamming the window on. |

I have only my friends and poor judgement to blame for the second viewing. Though I will say I was smart enough to only agree to go if someone would drive me and that I'd be drunk enough to dull my brain. |

| Wasn't it the same plot as Mork's baby? |

| I've heard people compare Button to Forrest Gump for various reasons, fair or not. Why is that? The use of technology to tell a character's sprawling story, through different periods? Mawkishness? |
