This is sort of the wrong thread, but I thought I'd mention how good Pontypool was. Especially after watching Dead Air right before it. Now that is a movie to avoid. *shudder*
Aside from a "Wtf?" ending, Pontypool had an interesting concept for how the 'zombie' plague spread. But I was mostly impressed with clever dialogue (few, if any, stupid throw-away lines), the impressive acting from the two *main* actors and the creepy path it took, a path not lined with loads of dead bodies and overhead shots of destruction. The action was very sparse, but placed in the right spots.
I'd like to say more, but I'm working on physics homework and kind of tired. :D One of those 'before I forget' posts.
I'd put Pontypool on a list of the decade's best horror.

I finally saw "Pontypool" as well, and I thought it was one of the best horror movies I'd seen in a while. All these directors making crappy remakes of 80s horror movies should be forced to watch it to see how to create creepy dread with just actors and words.
I don't want to give away any spoilers for others, but I thought it was fun the way that the movie played with your expectations about who would survive.
Hey -- did you "stay to the end of the credits?"

YES! That was even more "WTF?"! Seriously...but wtf?
Still kind of awesome. Has all the makings of a cult classic if there ever was one. |

It was a serious WTF, but it was fun.
I could really see "Pontypool" being a cult flick. It would stand up to more than one viewing, that's for sure. I had to go back and watch the scene with the kiss a second time.

| The good thing about movie trailers is that I get to decide what not to watch: "The A-Team" (I could barely credit this one. Egad!) and "The Last Airbender" (of course they couldn't use the full title since "Avatar" was such a big hit but live action? I prefer the cartoon). |

How about the trailer for "Super 8?"
I was looking at comments on the "Super 8" trailer on some other forum and the main topic of concern was that a pickup truck could never derail a train like that. |

Speaking of Robin Hood, can someone tell me when this fad for slow-motion is going to end? I've come to absolutely despise it. Curse The Matrix and 300 to the depths of hell. >:|
I mean, slow-motion has always been around, but usually for dramatic effect. It's not meant to be in every single action shot, damnit. So. Incredibly. Boring. |

I agree, Battie, it's one of those trendy overused "tricks" that has become a major irritant.
Another pet peeve of mine as of late is the way all movie trailers are now edited the same, with the same music cues even. It's like: Cut this faster and faster, build the music and then... DRAMATIC PAUSE in the music. And then beat, beat, beat. Even the frickin' new Karate Kid movie trailer uses this method. You know what I'm talking about even if I didn't describe it clearly.

Yeah, amazing cast. And it looks like Charlie Kaufman meets Roland Emmerich so I don't know what to expect but hopes are up.

I've heard Predators might be good, but I'll reserve my urge to see it until word gets around after the release. The Last Airbender, I want to watch because I'm on of the few people who likes the director's movies and I loved the tv show.
Sci-fi/thriller plot + Ellen Page as an adult? Awesome. But I'm most looking forward to Splice and Survival of the Dead. Also kinda wanna see the movie about the Hawaiian Princess.
Is it weird that I want to see Russell Brand in Get Him to the Greek? (Is it weird I first typed in 'wank' instead of want?) Honestly, I usually don't like those "types" of flicks. And the chubby guy has never impressed me, regardless of what indie flick he does.
Speaking of not being impressed: Matt Smith. Also, Moffat's episodes aren't half as good as Davies. I know, shocking. Blink is still my fave. And maybe they don't seem as good because Smith simply doesn't have the emotional punch to carry the deeper scenes. And his menacing moments aren't half as disturbing as they should be (remember Eccleston? Now that's a man ya didn't cross). I'm very disappointed.
Anyway, I'm working a (summer) job now. But I'm already broke thanks to a collision that was my fault. Somehow her bumper hit the plastic bits on the front of my car instead of my bumper. *flushes money down the drain* |

| Splice was crazy. I'll try to finish my review of it today. Some mixed things about it (and a few dumb things) but it's memorable, slyly funny in that Canadian sort of way and def worth seeing. |
