Hello Greencine staffers,

It has been a long time since I bugged the support department so I thought I give you guys a inquiry. Just a thought, I was wondering why in the private mail script that we have here on the site, can't we email directly to the dvdrequest or support address directly within Greencine but rather use a outside application or email? Just wondering, perhaps there is a way and I am too big of a dunce to notice?! Thanks for your care and patience as always. I hope my inquiry made sense.

A inquiring member likes to know.

Just adding to my question above, in our private mail where there is the option to "send a message to a friend" maybe you wonderful green fairies could add a "send message to dvdrequest" and a "send message to support" and whatever else you deem important or necessary.

Thank you again for listening as always.

Much kudos to you all, Bless you all Greencine staffers.

Am I buttering you guys and gals up enough?!

That's a good question... if you know the member names of the GC staffers you want to send mail to you can use the Private Mail, of course. If you look at underdog's profile most of the members on his "Friends" list are GC staffers you can Private Mail. Now all you have to do is figure out who does what.

uh...thanks hamano, you are helpful as always (honestly :p), however underdog did seem to forego listing who does what on his friends list, so I am still wondering whether this function is feasibly doable for lack of better terminology.

hmmm...maybe i can just randomly "private mail" underdog's friends list with my inquiries until i get a sense of who is who...hehehehe...randomize harrassment...hmmm...tasty...

If you hang around here long enough, you'll start to get an idea of who does what. There are even staffers who will go outside their job description to help you (like underdog personally taking an interest in a customer service problem). And you can always ask one staffer to pass along a message to another "more appropriate" person.

There are staffers who don't activate the "send mail to" link on their profile page. I think there's a workaround for that, too. Notice underdog doesn't allow private mail messages? I wonder if THIS works....

wow!, hamano, you rascal you, is this my invite to the upper echelon of Greencine?! I am taken aback...stun even, but yet I still feel very adamant about this feature request. It would just be very convenient, and I think it would really keep with the integration of the site. Perhaps I am over-reaching on this matter? Hope not, as always, you are princely in you aid. Thank you kind sir.

You goofball, you - I just sent e-mail to myself. ;-) Actually, I just changed my settings so now my private mail link is active.

But more to the original point, that's not really the best way to e-mail us, and there should be a direct on-site way, whether through a form, as accuity suggested, or through using the private mail function. I'll check with our techie staff and see if this is something we can add to a future site build, or if there's a reason why we can't.

Thanks for the idea!

There's this form already, although some more fields might add functionality. It seems like e-mailing to the specific addresses for specific problems is still better, but it would be nice to be able to report simple, common problems that way.
It would be even better to be able to upload icons automatically through an on-site form, but that might be asking a lot.

Ach, I'm just here to inform and entertain... of course I'm "humor impaired" so I have no idea how entertaining I actually am... I just plod on, regardless...

Thank you Underdog, you wonderfully gifted cape wearing canine, "There's no need to fear, Underdog is here!". Again, it just shows why I appreciate Greencine as my only rental service. Customer support that is supported.

Ah, Hamano, is there hope for you yet? I think there is...keep a chin up.

Woof! De nada. Also, should be noted that I neglected to mention that there is one way to contact support directly from our site now. We'll work on adding a similar function for other departments at future dates.
