Also, we did order that African Queen, and according to Weezy it looks pretty good so sounds like we're gonna add it here for rent shortly. Cross yer fingers and thanks for the recommendation of that one.

I can't imagine too many other rental outfits offer that one. Sounds like it's more than adequate, though it would be nice to see an R1 release for that classic film sometime.

(Ophuls) La ronde (Ophuls) Le plaisir (Ophuls) An Autumn Afternoon (Ozu) Shadows in Paradise (Kaurismaki 1986) Ariel (Kaurismaki 1988) The Match Factory Girl (Kaurismaki 1990) Grand Illusion (Renoir) Beauty and the Beast (Cocteau) Rashomon (Kurosawa) Wild Strawberries (Bergman) Knife in the Water (Polanski) Lord of the Flies (Brook) The last six of these titles have already been available from Criterion; I'm not sure whether these might be new editions, or simply a reissue in a boxed set.

If GC can only get one King documentary for now, it would have to be "Warrendale." According to some sources, it prompted Jean Renoir to call it the work of a great artist and the most remarkable documentary he's ever seen. The second would have to be "A Married Couple" which seems to be the second most mentioned King documentary. Third would be "Dying at Grace." Fourth would be "Come On Children" for supposedly being one of King's own favorites. After those, I think MoMA's King retrospective notes would be a great reference for which ones to add (personally they all sound as amazing as Wiseman's documentaries). Amazon is frequently the best place to check for things like this, since many dealers list imports and out-of-print items there.

The whole set is roughly the price of most new single discs -- is there any chance GC might pick up another copy or two, to replenish whatever happened to your disc 1's? (I think I'll also post this request over in the Availability=Red thread.)

Thank you! Yeah, the Korean release of von Trier. My experience with Korean copies has been very good, with censorship being the only potential question. There's nothing in IMDb's plot keywords to suggest T&A or sex, so it should be fine. They (and you) give the timing as 112 minutes, but I'll be curious to see what the timing actually comes to after the PAL-to-NTSC conversion. BTW you might want to correct the Walt Disney Video reference for this copy.

I'm having a fainting attack waiting for those Ophuls, in particular.
