Because it has the most responses in 48 hours.

Nor am I saying that there are simply folks who aren't into chatting who just want to get in, get the DVDs and get out. I am saying that it can be very hard being the new kid on the block (not the band) and engraciate yourself into the flock (especially our bunch).

> ---------------------------------

No worries, we're all trying to get to the same goal: getting more folks to waste valuable time at work posting on these boards! (or is that just me?)

Anyway, I remember being a bit scared myself when I first posted. I'd imagine most people would be like that. But I'd also imagine most people eventually ended up posting at some point. I can see someone holding off for a few days, but not someone holding off for a few months. Then again, maybe that's just me.

Regardless, whether it's nervousness, ignorance, not caring, or not interested, what can be done to increase posting?

How about a GC posting lottery? GC gives away 10 (or whatever) DVDs away each month. To win one, you have to post, or write a review, etc. Each of those is an entry, and the more entries, the more likely chance you have to win.

On the business side, this might lower attrition rates since, if people are investing their time adding to this site, they're less likely to leave.

I don't know about that... an awful lot of members who were very active back when I joined are just gone.... larbeck, colonelkong, dh22, etc. etc. The boards alone clearly don't keep people from leaving...

Oh no, of course not. The better question is does it LOWER the attrition rates to where it makes sense to offer some incentive.

My ego and centrism aren't nearly big enough to support such grandiosity, I asure you.

The boards don't scare me at all. When I see that my favorite movies of all time are "lilo and stitch" and Bergman's "The Seventh Seal", I do a good enough job of scaring myself to be bothered by anything else.

No, I think ArrrkArrrkArrk is from the Chilli Willy cartoon series.

Liberal use of the C4 gambit. (back to Monty Python, this time for exploding shrubbery)
