Every now and zen, I get an attack of Blu-Ray envy, I dream of a nice home theater with nice 80' screen and 10.1 sound. But I just took a gander at the Greencine HD-DEF section and man, you guys have a lot "request rental" buttons where I would want a "rent" button, if I did have that system.

Have people been skipping out on Greencine with the goods?
Or maybe they have a shorter lifespan that normal DVD?
Or maybe you do not have enough interest to justify the expense?
Is anyone else worried about the future of Blu-Ray?
Think it may die even though it did survive HD-DVD?

okay, enough questions - Sarge, bring the prisoner up for air.

even if it dies as a "movie" format it will survive and be resurrected when burnable media becomes cheap.

I know id love to bur 25GB bluray discs to back up my files.

They are supposed to last longer than regular dvds but who really knows.

We keep Blu-Ray discs as "request" until we see there is an interest in acquiring them, it just so happens that Blu-Ray isn't very popular in our rental community just yet. But we do try to get all the Blu-Ray discs that seem like must-sees, like the Godfather and Planet Earth collections. Suggestions can always be send to catalog@greencine.com as well and are welcome!

For me, getting the 40" flatscreen TV was really cool, but Blu-Ray was ho-hum, as long as you have a DVD player that can "upsample" regular DVDs to HD.

Maybe if I had a 80" screen, Blu-ray would be cool.

I didn't care about blu-ray til I got Firefly, I was easily swayed.
