...and conversations (here) aren't what they used to be...

How are you, Cinenaut?

You've changed your "look" since I last "saw" you.

Yes, I am in disguise as Dr. Mabuse in disguise. Unfortunately, I don't seem to have gained any mesmeric powers in the process.

I'm fine. I've been renting some silent movies, some foreign flicks, the usual. No anime or Bollywood lately.

It really has been quiet around here. We're not reaching critical chat mass.

From time to time, it is good to visit old haunts.

There are some that propose that a "silent film" is really the extended precurser of the modern music video.

However, I submit that one must know how to act before one learns how to speak. And I respect both the genre and the behaviour.

What non-American films have you seen lately, Cinenaut?

I am perfectly capable of carrying on a conversation by myself.

But that is usually not my preference.

Let's see: "Katyn," which was pretty devastating, "Enlightenment Guaranteed," which was funny and interesting.

Sometimes I wonder if there is some kind of hidden pattern in the movies I get shipped, like getting "Headless Woman" and "Treeless Mountain" one after another, or two Latin American prison movies ("Lion's Den" and "Carandiru") around the same time.

Rented anything good lately?

Good to see you guys chatting here. Maybe it'll pick up again here soon when people leave the hibernation period. ;-)

Checking on shipping. USPS has been erratic in general lately. Sometimes lightning fast, sometimes inexplicably slow. Has been pretty fast for me between LA and SF though.

You guys reminded me we should do a new "What have you been renting lately" thread.

Just watching the Olympics... Of course, now the athletes will make the rounds of talk shows so there's more to obsess over.

I'm not sure I'll miss Saturday if shipping is this slow. My quick return from yesterday still hasn't shipped.
