This website is getting to be almost always inaccessible. The only thing I can think of is that they must have removed all but one of their servers, and substituted a 1980s model for that one. Maybe they're trying to save on electricity costs.

It seems almost as though only one visitor at a time can log on now. And trying to get from one screen to another is excruciating.

Even if I ever succeed in getting this posted, no one is ever going to be able to access it, anyway.

From New and Coming Releases: September 10, 2013:
"GreenCine's main page is have [sic] technical difficulties updating..."

Not just the main page - it's every page.

I emailed Support on August 5 - two months ago - about this, and Paul replied "I have techs working on it right now, and we'll have things back to normal as soon as possible."

I'm not sure what "normal" is supposed to mean, but now it seems worse than ever.

Yesterday I posted at the "A likely answer to exactly what the non-Green availability means..." thread my (belated?) discovery of an ad for something called "JollyWallet". This is a banner ad running across the top of the GreenCine page, and also a large popup in the middle of the page. I've now seen for the first time a different, slightly smaller, popup, on another GC page.

These "JollyWallet" ads display only on one of the two XP computers I use, and only with Chrome, not with Internet Explorer. But even though they don't display, they must actually be there all the time, on both computers, and using both browsers.

I'm willing to bet that it's these ads that are the major cause - or at least one of the major causes - of GreenCine's ongoing problems with loading and going from one screen to another.

What do other subscribers see, or not, under what circumstances - computer type and software?

Jolly Wallet is malware on that one particular computer, I think. Try googling it. There are removal instructions.

It feels like Greencine is on its last legs. I have a "new release" in my queue that says it's due to be released on Sept. 23, 2013.

Actually, it's "Room 237," which was due to be released Sept. 24, 2013. I also have one that was due to be released in August, which is still marked that way.

Not that I've received any new releases in a long, long time, of course.

Thanks very much for the heads-up on Jolly Wallet - that hadn't occurred to me. I'm running full scans on that computer now with my antivirus and also Malwarebytes.

Room 237 is available now with no wait at NF; and also at Facets, but of course they never tell you whether they have a wait.

I just finished watching Scorsese's 1999 documentary My Voyage to Italy, his 4-hour "master class" analysis of post-war Italian cinema, discussing Rossellini, De Sica, Visconti, Fellini, and Antonioni, commenting on extended clips from their films. Fascinating. (You need both discs for Parts 1 & 2.)

I think I may be done with Greencine. I thought I was going to be the last one out the door, but with the website outages and the dwindling number of available movies, the effort/reward is not worth it for me.

I've removed all the green bar movies from my queue. We'll see if anything else ships. I'm waiting on a movie to arrive, and if nothing else ships, that could be it for me. I'll remove everything from my queue and email support@greencine.com.

Wow, "Room 237" is even on Netflix streaming. I didn't realize that.

If they aren't charging you, then it sounds like you're done.

If they do charge you again, write to support@greencine.com. If you don't get a reply there within a week or so, contest the charge(s) with your credit card company.

Still can login today

Says on Site You have requested that your GreenCine account be closed on November 13, 2013. If you would like to cancel this request, please go to the account closure cancellation page.

I closed it for October 13th not November 13th. Still not seeing a billing either.

As far as I know, your only option is to write to support@greencine.com.

We haven't had responses on these user forums from Greencine employees in a while.

:-)

You mean not since Oct 26, 2012, when weezy last posted. I guess that counts as being "a while". Personally I don't think any staff is even reading them, much less posting.

Last week I mentioned in a different thread that I hadn't yet been billed for September. Theoretically I'm billed on the 26th of each month. Checking again today, I can't access the current status of my credit card account, I guess because it's a holiday, so I'll look again tomorrow.

GreenCine is obviously running short-staffed, but if they're failing to bill subscribers, that's a hell of a way to run a business.

The difference is, I'm not supposed to be a member period right now.

My credit card info is back up now - must have been a temporary blip. Still no charge showing for GreenCine; last billed on 8/25.

The answer to your question must be that you're still shown as active because you're recorded as extended out through November. The warehouse is still operational, just chugging along so far, but nobody's minding the store.

They stopped sending out emails some time between late August and late September, but today my queue shows that a green-barred movie I added on Saturday is shipping today.

How it is shipping during a postal holiday is beyond me.
How someone who isn't a member and hasn't been billed is also puzzling.Do I add something to see if it ships out at this point or?

Why not? Give it a try. Add a bunch of greens at the end of your queue, to see if anything ships.
