Crimes of Passion (1984)
Not Rated
Dark, perverse, twisted and sad. With maybe a touch of hope/redemtion.No spoilers here!
Crash (1996)
Not Rated
David Cronenbergs. People so numb that it takes a car crash/scar fetish to make them feel anything at all.
The Company of Wolves (1984)
What if the grandmother represented repression, the red cloak menstruation, the path the straight and narrow life, the wolf sexuality, and the woods the unknown?
Chasing Amy (Criterion Collection) (1997)
My favorite Kevin Smith film. Lesbian and straight guy fall in love. Drama ensues.
The Rapture (1991)
What if God is real but impossible to love?
Black Christmas (Special Edition) (1974)
Amazing how much more effective and scary a horror film is when it doesn't show everything. John Carpenter should pay this guy royalties from Halloween.
Muriel's Wedding (1994)
Toni Collette (sp?) is a godess. Over weight put-upon daughter of dismissive father and meek mother leaves home to create new life for herself. Has to decide whether or not putting herself first or putting her best friend first is who she is. Plus, soundtrack by Abba....
The Blood of a Poet (Criterion Collection) (1930)
Lyrical, haunting, and beautiful. David Lynch could do this if he didn't try so hard
Pieces of April (2003)
Katie Holmes before she became scientologized "Kate". April wants to cook Thanksgiving dinner for her terminal mother and disenfranchised family but finds out at the last minute the oven she's used as a storage bin doesn't work. Patricia Clarkson should have got an Oscar
Safe (1995)
Julianne Moore as a mother/wife, taken for granted by husband and kid, who develops an allergy to, well, everything in her life. Debate continues as to whether or not this is a real affliction or not. I lean towards not, which makes this film that much more powerful.
The Last Supper (1995)
Just goes to show that you can't trust Rush and Glenn. Wish some lefties had the balls to be as violent towards the Repugnantcans as they are towards those who disagree with them. This film is a cautionary tale.
Let the Right One In (2008)
Hollywood will never get it. They see "vampire flick" when everyone else sees a story about two lost lonely kids. Fuck James Cameron
S.F.W. (1994)
Before reality t.v. even existed. So ahead of it's time I'm surprised it was even made when it was, Features a young Reese Witherspoon before she tried to be the next Julia Roberts
Betty Blue (1986)
Not Rated
Explicit and harrowing. Anyone who has ever had feelings for someone even slightly unhinged will get this film
Series 7: The Contenders (2001)
Warning sign for where reality tv is heading. Will anyone hear it? The popularity of bum fight videos tells me no.
Waiting for Guffman (1996)
Laughing at people who don't know enough to lagh at themselves.Kinda mean but most of the dialogue is improvised and everyone seems to really love the character they play.
House on Haunted Hill (1999)
The ending totally sucks. but Famke and Geoffrey's banter? Two people who want each other dead has never been so sexy and funny.
Matador (1986)
Male bullfighting serial killer that's way to into Antonio Banderas character and a female serial killer that wants to die during orgasm? I'm there!
The Last Seduction (1994)
A female lead? And she's a villain? And cold and calculating? And unrepentant?
