What to see before Kill Bill...
List creator: Tuna
Created on: September 25, 2003 - 8:20 PM PDT
Description: Kill Bill will be the greatest movie ever made, so see the movies that helped make it. I'd also put "They Call Her One Eye" on but its an incredibly rare movie (VHS only might i add).. Look for that DVD release soon.

Game of Death (1978)
Not Lee's best (for obvious reasons) but I have to acknowledge Uma's amazingly yellow suit was in fact Bruce's and the Kareem fight is just
Enter the Dragon (1973)
If you're remotely interested in Kill Bill you have to see this, that's the type of martial arts movie Quentin is trying to make. Not Rush Hour 2 or Cradle to the Grave.. sorry. One of Bruce Lee's best, second only to Chinese Connection for me.
The Street Fighter (1974)
A great martial arts film starring Sonny Chiba. Nice soundtrack too. Big enough impact on Quentin to write this into True Romance.
Return of the Street Fighter (1975)
Sonny Chiba is in Kill Bill too and is the sword choreographer for it. (We'll get to Woo Ping later.) See the series he's best known for.
Master of the Flying Guillotine (1975)
Great techno soundtrack which is actually one of the later tracks on the KB soundtrack. Theres something about movies with martial arts tournaments that just do it for me. Flying Guillotines sabotaging tournaments is EVEN better. One of QTs favorite films
Five Fingers of Death (1972)
Great shawbrothers classic with Lo Lieh..Signature move seems to remind me of the move in the Kill Bill script. Hopefully we'll get to see some pulsating red hands in Kill Bill.
Five Deadly Venoms (1978)
Not Rated
Classic Shaw Brothers, best known film. I can't describe why I like this film. I love the intro that just describes all 5 of them and leads into a suprisingly mysterious plot that leaves you aching to see them fight.
Shaolin Master Killer (1978)
Not Rated
Gordon Liu plays 2 parts in KB. One of his best known roles.
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000)
I guess if the older films seem cheesy you can always go with this recent one that conveys the classic martial arts movie theme with a bit of fantasy and wire fu thrown in. Also an example of the magic of Yuen Woo-Ping.
Drunken Master (1978)
Directed and fighting scenes choreographed by Yuen Woo-Ping who will be doing the larger part of the Kill Bill fight directing... Oh I guess its also the film that made Jackie Chan famous.
Fist of the White Lotus (1981)
Not Rated
Influence for the Kill Bill, Pai Mei know..the white haired sword balancing fighter in the trailer..
Battle Royale (2001)
Chiaki Kuriyama will be god after her role in Kill Bill so see the movie that made Quentin pick her. BR has a great story and sucks you right in.
Pulp Fiction (1994)
Of course, QT's amazing film that requires no comment. And no I don't think there is a direct Fox Force Five connection but definate influence.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie (1990)
I had an obligation to my mutated friends...and hey Vanilla Ice isn't in it.
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1966)
I must add a couple spaghetti westerns. Love the Morricone score..
Once Upon a Time in the West (1968)
For some reason Bill playing the flute reminded me of Harmonica..
Lone Wolf and Cub: Sword of Vengeance (1972)
Not Rated
"What do you want to watch?" "Shogun Assassin!" (I guess you have to see this after seeing Kill Bill )
Kill Bill vol.1 (2003)
  well, yeah.
