The Abominable Dr. Phibes (1971)
Great visuals mark this very different film.
Session 9 (2001)
Creepy film with excellent visuals (lights failing down a long hallway...) and excellent score. Great ending audio overlay.
Psycho (Special Edition) (1960)
The final shot of Norman is terrifying. Favorite film of all time.
Suspiria (1977)
Not Rated
The set design in this film is amazing.
Audition (1999)

Asami's smile when the phone rings will forever be etched in my mind.
Jaws (1975)
I really cannot watch this enough times. 28 years later and the ocean still unnerves me.
28 Days Later (2002)
...fantastic indie music...excellent editing and camera shots (esp some of the POV shots).
Freaks (1932)
Not Rated
I'll never forget being a 9 year old and waking up to the last 20 minutes of this movie. Crazed out of my wits!
The X-Files: Season 4 (disc 1 of 7) (1993)
I'm not an X-Files nut, but the 3rd episode of the 4th season, "Home," is terrifying. It's a stand-alone episode that has nothing to do with the "mythology" of the series so there is no need to know anything about the rest of the series.
The Shining (1980)
Very dark and detached piece by Kubrick even if it does get corny towards the end (it is King after all).
Joy Ride (2001)
While a bit formulaic at times this film contains some great visuals and Ted Levine's excellent voice over work.
