Tense, Claustrophobic, Paranoia-ridden -- then that ending?? It deserved to sink.
	Raising Arizona (1987)
Great opening sequence, then turns into a conventional comedy (at least as much as a Coen Bros. movie can); Holly Hunter's Ed is one of great comedic roles of recent memory
	Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (1988)
First half is painfully funny; Michael Caine upstages Steve Martin in a fine comedic performance
	Strictly Ballroom (1992)
Youth gone wild with uncontrolled crowd pleasing dance moves! if only the entire movie was like the first 15 minutes
	Full Metal Jacket (1987)
Just didn't deliver after a promising beginning.
	Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace (1999)
Started great! Exciting, action packed, suspenseful, mysterious, ominous, hopeful. Then they stopped showing the trailers and the real Phantom Menace began. If only they showed those trailers for 2 hours.
	Wolf (1994)
The greenlight meeting: "Jack! Pfeiffer! Werewolves! Sexy/Scary + Mike Nichols!!" The studio must have been forking over the $$ even before they got to "Mike". Too bad that pitch was the highpoint of the entire project. i also wrote a review for more info
	Sleepy Hollow (1999)
Good ensemble of actors, Depp, Ricci, Walken's cameo, etc. Good production design and look. But then, somewhere along the way, it becomes Scooby Doo. I was waiting for Velma to rip off a pumpkin head to find the old crank or the Alger Hiss film.
	Bottle Rocket (Criterion) (1996)
A sweet movie all-around, with one 5-10 minute stretch is was literally balled over laughing and slapping my knee.
	Dumb and Dumber (1994)
One of those hit and mix movies. I didn't even crack a smile until the part with the paraquet; then I couldn't stop laughing for the next 30 minutes, no matter how bad the jokes were
