Anime With Music That I Like
List creator: thxman

Description: List of anime with good opening themes (generally the ending themes are too slow for my tastes) or just general soundtrack music that I enjoy

Akira (Special Edition) (1988)
Drums, drums and more drums! The soundtrack for the opening clashes between the clowns and Kaneda's gang is pretty awesome with the thundering bass of all those drums. Plus I just like the "Kaneda! Tetsuo!" vocals.
The Big O Vol. 1 (2001)
Not Rated
The opener is a great homage to one of those Queen soundtracks that they made in the 80s by a Japanese group no less!
Bubblegum Crisis - Ep. 1-3 (1987)
From "Hurricane" to "Mad Machine" this series is packed with so many songs that I like...Plus it made the voice of Priss a household name in Japan.
Bubblegum Crisis: Tokyo 2040 Vol. 1: Genesis (1998)
Has that cool rockin opening theme that I like
Cowboy Bebop: Session 1 (1998)
Jazz in an anime opener. Pretty fresh. Good tune as well, I especially like the clarinet finisher.
Gatekeepers Vol. 1: Open the Gate! (2001)
Not Rated
Pure pop theme that goes well with the visuals of the gatekeeper characters.
Legend of Himiko Vol. 1: Sacred Fire (1999)
Not Rated
Pop-like opener that goes well with the visuals of each of the characters, plus has a nice payoff near the end.
Martian Successor Nadesico Chronicle 1: Invasion! (2000)
Another one of those pop tunes that gets stuck in your head and won't go out. Going your days grow up! Classic!
Outlaw Star Vol. 1 (Disc 1 of 2) (1998)
Not Rated
Rockin theme song that fits perfectly with the series. It's all about Gene Starwind and his never give up attitude.
Pretear vol. 1 (2003)
Not Rated
Yes, it's pop, but it makes me want to replay the opener over and over again.
RahXephon Vol. 1: Threshold (2003)
Not Rated
New Agey tune that starts off nicely and gets better with a "snap".
Sadamitsu the Destroyer Vol. 1: Crash Down (2001)
Not Rated
Gotta love the use of a "western movie" style theme song for this one.
Sol Bianca: The Legacy Vol. 1. Lost Treasures (2000)
Not Rated
Another one of those songs that is completely stuck in my head. Whenever I rent these I pay the opening theme over and over to the detriment of my neighbors I'm sure. Makes excellent use of synths, violins, vocal tweaks and has excellent singing.
Tenchi Muyo: DVD Ultimate Edition - OVA Episodes 1-7 (2004)
One of the rare soundtracks that is instrumental. Moves fast, makes good use of Asian instruments. The visuals and music work well to introduce the characters. I used to play this theme ad nauseum back in my Laserdisc days.
Vandread Vol. 1: Enemy Engaged! (2000)
I was a little sad when they changed the theme from season one to 2. Season 1's theme was another one of these pop themes that I could play over and over. Season 2's theme is starting to get stuck in my head too though, with it's techno riffs.
Vision of Escaflowne Vol. 1: Dragons & Destiny (2000)
Not Rated
New agey? tune with plenty of synths and violins that fits well with the series.
