The Grifters (1990)
Perfect blend of a Jim Thompson novel, and a Richard Stark screenplay. The combo is dynamite.
After Dark, My Sweet (1990)
About as good as so-called Neo-Noir got. Bruce Dern is at his creepy best.
Coup De Torchon (Criterion Collection) (1981)
Not Rated
Based on POP. 1280, this is the best translation of one of Thompson's work
The Killer Inside Me (1976)
Forgotten movie starring Stacy Keach. Follows the novel almost word for word. Looks very 70s though.
The Getaway (Deluxe Edition) (1972)
Steve McQueen and Ali McGraw star as modern day bank robbers on the lamb.
The Getaway (1994)
Inferior remake of the 72 film. In some ways, though, this one moves along at a more brisk pace.
Paths of Glory (Criterion) (1957)
Not Rated
Screenplay by Thompson and not based on one of his novels. What "Saving Private Ryan" tried to be.
The Killing (Criterion) (1956)
Not Rated
Thompson wrote the crackling dialog for this Kubrick film. It's a great piece of pulp crime fiction.
