Actors standing motionless, staring wide-eyed with mouths gaping open in the face of unimpressive CGI. Sound design goes a long way... A friend once yelled at me for refusing to see this.
	Amistad (1997)
Supposing "Shindler's List" wasn't troubling enough -- employing black comedy methods to provoke guilt in the viewer -- I refuse to even watch this exploration and depiction of slavery.
	Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977)
As a young child I obstinately refused to watch this movie, much to the distress and confusion of my mother.
	Saving Private Ryan (1998)
When all else fails, turn to the Nazis... Although I've heard encouraging things about the physical violence in this film, it's simply not enough to take the risk of oversimplified moralizing and depthless characters.
	Jaws (1975)
As a child I never got around to seeing this film and simply have no interest. Hitchcock did it first and did it better.
	Good Will Hunting (1997)
The sickening, pompous thrust of public opinion to see this film reminded me too much of "Forrest Gump", ten years before. Another film I wish I'd never seen.

	The Lion King (1994)
An inexplicable, but unwavering impulse not to see this. Maybe it's the music I've heard, or just a deep distrust of Disney.
	Life is Beautiful (1997)
Bad memories of "Shindler's List" and the arrogance of Miramax sealed the deal for me. I'm not opposed to a comedy set in a concentration camp, but I'd rather see Jerry Lewis's take on things.
	The Matrix: Reloaded (2003)
Seeing the first film (under duress) was such an agonizing experience -- awful acting and unsophisticated philosophy -- I refuse to see the sequels. And half of the original audience was right there with me, apparently.

	The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003)
The character of Golem is an oasis of moral complexity, anguish and gravity in what is essentially an incredibly safe story of black vs. white duality, lacking in suspense, moral complication or any interest at all.
	Shakespeare in Love (1998)
Again, a deep distrust of Miramax and what looks like simple romanticized idealism. Seriously, Marlowe as the ?bad guy?? But hey, I could be wrong.
	The Shawshank Redemption (1994)
Another "Forrest Gump" situation. Although I like the actors, something in me just says "no".
	Erin Brockovich (2000)
Not being a fan of Soderbergh's "dark" films ("Kafka" being the worst offence), I balked at his sudden change in direction after the release of "Pulp Fiction". But, it was "The Limey" that made me promise never to see another of his films.
	Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle (2003)			Not Rated

A deep distrust of heavy-metal humor by Hollywood (Canadian talent). I'm not at all opposed to teenage sentimentality, but I'd rather see "That '70s Show: The Movie".
