Scenes from a Marriage: TV Series (Criterion Collection) (Disc 1 of 2) (1974)
Scenes from a Marriage: TV Series (Criterion Collection) (Disc 2 of 2) (1974)
I've never seen a movie that expresses ambivalence towards love and monogamy quite like this one. Achingly beautiful.
Faithless (2000)
  More of the same.
Faces (Criterion Collection) (1968)
I always wonder how Cassavetes can make dialogue that seems so awkward and forced feel so affecting.
La Notte (1961)
Not Rated
Can love (or habit) overcome disgust?
Husbands and Wives (1992)
Really most Woody Allen films could work on this list, but this is a good one.
Lost in Translation (2003)
Subtly dramatic and hopeful despite not having much reason to be.
Contempt (Criterion Collection) (1963)
"Then you love me totally" "Yes, totally, tenderly, tragically"
That Obscure Object of Desire (Criterion Collection) (1977)
  Maybe confused more than conflicted.
In the Mood for Love (Criterion Collection) (2000)
  The love story that wasn't.
American Beauty (1999)
I guess the ending is what redeems it for me as "conflicted" rather than just spiteful.
The Adventures of Antoine Doinel: Bed and Board (Criterion Collection) (1970)
Ok, admittedly I haven't made it this far in the Antoine Doinel series yet, but I'm guessing it will be good.
