Why Clowns And Dolls Freak Me Out.
List creator: sappho
Created on: October 21, 2002 - 11:56 PM PDT
Description: Obviously my dislike for clowns and dolls comes from these kind of films. The fact that I saw most of these when I was very young is part of it too. Nothing like a bunch of creepy clown/doll films to turn a kid into an adult with a clown/doll aversion.

Vulgar (2002)

Ok, technically this film is not creepy in the "sinister clown" sense, but it's a great movie and VERY disturbing. Probably one of the most unsettling films I've seen recently.
It (1990)

This is the one that did it for me. I will never watch this movie again. It really made clowns freak me out...in fact, I suppose my fear level concerning clowns went through the roof the night I saw this.
Killer Klowns From Outer Space (1988)
12345678910
Well, it's campy but that doesn't alleviate the clown fear factor. I think maybe the fact that it's campy makes it worse.
Blood Dolls (1999)
12345678910
Maybe I was killed by a doll in a past life. Everyone I know found this movie to be funny while I lived with doll fearing stigma for days.
The Twilight Zone: Vol. 30 (1963)
12345678910
Episode 148: "Ceaser and me". It's about a evil ventriloquist's dummy...but it's still a doll in my book.
The Twilight Zone: Vol. 31 (1963)
12345678910

Episode 110: Miniature. A man finds a tiny living doll in his dollhouse. I think the reason why these living doll films are so disturbing is because they are so irrational...
The Twilight Zone: Vol. 36 (1960)
12345678910
Episode 115: "The New Exhibit". Another scary tale about a wax museum. You guess the plot.
The Twilight Zone: Vol.11 (1960)
12345678910

"Living Doll" is, in my opinion, one of the most subtle yet horrifying Twilight Zone films ever. Not to mention a great possessed doll film.
Gremlins (1984)
12345678910
Ok, this film is campy and cute in that "nuevo retro" kind of way. It's obviously not so scary but it scared the hell out of me as a kid.
Child's Play (20th Anniversary Edition) (1988)
12345678910
Many think this film is funny and kitsch. It scared me when I first saw it and the idea of it still gives me the chills. Keep this film away from me please.
Child's Play 2 (1990)
12345678910
Ditto. If part 1 scared me why did I watch part 2? For the same reason this list has more than one film- I am an Aries. We have to hit the same wall a few times.
The Tommyknockers (1993)
12345678910

This movie contains a few possessed doll scenes. Thank goodness they were short.
Attack of the Puppet People (1958)
12345678910

Ah, Whatever. This film didn't even get to me. In fact, I fell asleep to it.
The Shining (1980)
12345678910
The Shining is a great movie. One of my favorite horror films actually. If they could just edit out that bizarre clown doll I might be able to watch it again.
Poltergeist (1982)
12345678910
Dolls and childrens toys here along with a whole slew of equally disturbing things. You could not pay me to sit through this movie again. Freaked me right out of the room. Nope.
