And oh, how we laughed.

Description: Some of the best comedies (e.g., Being There) don't actually make you laugh. So they're not on this list. No TV here, and in no particular order...

Lost in America (1985)
"I lost a whole woman!" That'd be Julie Hagerty, the perfect match for Albert Brooks.
Bananas (1971)
  Viva the early funny ones!
Clerks (1994)
Kevin Smith may well write the funniest dialogue of the waning days of the 20th century
Dogma (Special Edition) (1999)
Kevin Smith may well write... no, wait. I just said that.
Flirting With Disaster (1996)
A rarity: it crescendos. The laughs come in the last third, but getting there is fun, too.
Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid (1982)
Saw this not long after taking a course in Film Noir. It immediately became -- and remains -- one of my all-time favorites. F'ing brilliant.
Airplane! (1980)
You just can't wear this one out.
Grosse Pointe Blank (1997)
"Workers of the world unite!" Cusack's best. Still.
Young Frankenstein (1974)
Mel Brooks topped Blazing Saddles, quite a feat... and then, lost it. At the movies, anyway. Word has it he's done rather well on Broadway.
