1999. If you're gonna have a horror fest, it's gotta be evil.
Black Sunday (1960)

1999. They did a good job of setting the tone for years to come. Real horror, no self-aware teen horror parodies.

The Convent (2000)
12345678910
2000. Not super scary, but lots of fun.
Dead of Night (1999)
12345678910
2000. Missing films from this year are "Besat" (aka "Possessed", and a pretty damn good film, with the ubiquitous Udo Kier) and "Demon Lover Diary"
Dead Creatures (2001)
12345678910

2001. What if you became a zombie, but still had your wits about you. A good pairing with Shaun of the Dead, the same story told from the other viewpoint.
Deep in the Woods (2000)
12345678910
2001. Kids stumble upon eerie house and homeowner. Same story as usual, only this time in French.

Wendigo (2001)
12345678910
2001. Heard lots of great stuff about this one, but fails to live up to the hype. Stylish, but not scary.
Pyrokinesis (2000)
12345678910

2001. Entertaining, very similar to Firestarter, by a directory known mostly for kaiju movies.
The Nameless (1999)
12345678910
2001. Looking forward to seeing this. The print at the festival lacked subtitles, so I left to get a drink or three across the street where they were showing "Plan 9 From Outer Space."
Intacto (2001)
12345678910
2002. Original story, well paced, with an as-always good performance from Max Von Sydow.
Dog Soldiers (2002)
12345678910
  2002. Surprisingly good.
Inugami (2001)

Dark Water (2002)
12345678910
The original, not the American remake.
Versus (Director's Cut) (2000)
12345678910

2002. Surprisingly disappointing. Missing films from this year are "Kat", "Teenage Hooker Became a Killing Machine in Daehakroh", and "Det Okanda" (aka "The Unknown")
Ju-On (2003)
12345678910
2004 (if we count the LA "Dark Wave"). Has all the elements we've seen in every major J-horror film (ok, the one element common to all of them, the creepy dead kid), but scary nonetheless. Missing from this year is "Mojave"
High Tension (2003)
12345678910
Not Rated
Pretty good, but a predictable ending. Director Aja follows his homage to "Assault on Precinct 13" (The Nest) with another nod, this time to ending of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
