The Crimson Pirate (1952)
12345678910
Not Rated
A wonderfully tongue-in-cheek pirate movie with former acrobats Burt Lanchaster and Nick Cravat,. Check out the scene with the inverted underwater rowboat.
The Sea Hawk (1940)
12345678910
Not Rated
Fantastic swashbuckler with Errol Flynn, Alan Hale and smarmy Claude Rains. The Sea Hawks are basically privateers, which reminds me of my favorite pirate board game.
The Black Pirate (1926)
12345678910
Douglas Fairbanks in a silent film that used the two color Technicolor process.
Muppet Treasure Island (1996)
12345678910
Tim Curry as Long John Silver. Need I say more?
Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003)
12345678910
No one thought there'd ever be another big hit pirate movie and look what happened.
Pirates of Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest (Widescreen) (2006)
12345678910
The second in the trilogy is fun, but it ends with a big old cliffhanger in anticipation of part three. Let's hope we see more of Naomi Harris there.
Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End (2007)
12345678910
"Close your eyes and pretend it's all a bad dream. That's how I get by. "
Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (2011)
12345678910
I always thought these movies might be inspired by the 1987 Tim Powers novel On Stranger Tides. I'm glad Mr. Powers got some Disney cash in the end.
Blackbeard (2006)
12345678910
Not Rated
Edward Teach -- perhaps the most famous pirate, and perhaps too clean-looking in this adaptation.
Real Pirates of the Caribbean (2006)
12345678910
This is a documentary that I haven't seen.
Captain Herlock Vol. 1: The Legend Returns (2002)
12345678910
Not Rated
  Avast, ye anime pirates!
Treasure Island (1998)
12345678910
Another Treasure Island adaptation with Jack Palance as Long John Silver.
Cutthroat Island (1995)
12345678910
Think twice before you link your career to your spouse's.
Ice Pirates (1984)
12345678910
Beloved by some for its campy 80s badness.
Yellowbeard (1983)
12345678910
Take a dash of Cheech and Chong, a dollop of Monty Python and season with Marty Feldman.

Missing: Nate and Hayes (1983) with Tommy Lee Jones as a pirate.
The Pirates of Penzance (1980)
12345678910
Pour, oh, pour the pirate sherry; Fill, O fill the pirate glass; And, to make us more than merry, Let the pirate bumper pass.
Swashbuckler (1976)
12345678910
Currently on my request list. It sounds pretty good. James Earl Jones as a pirate!
Blackbeard's Ghost (1968)
12345678910
Typical goofy Disney fare. I liked it when I was a kid. At least it has Peter Ustinov in it!
A High Wind in Jamaica (1965)
12345678910
Based on Richard Hughes wonderful novel. Things don't go well when kids and pirates mix. For either side.
Pirates of Tortuga (1961)
12345678910
B-movie pirates! They will swarm your decks and though their haircuts may not all be authentic, your timbers will still shiver.
Pirates of Capri (1949)
12345678910
Not Rated
  B-movie pirates from Edgar Ulmer!
The Pirate (1948)
12345678910
Not Rated
Gene Kelly plays a faux pirate in this musical romance.
Pirates Double Feature: Long John Silver/ Captain Kidd (1945)
12345678910
Not Rated
Two for the price of one! Charles Laughton as Kidd and a sequel to Treasure Island.

Missing: The Black Swan (1942), with Tyrone Power and Maureen O'Hara.
Jamaica Inn (1939)
12345678910
Not Rated
Based on Daphne DuMaurier's novel about wreckers, who were land-based pirates that lured ships to their doom on rocky shores. Not one of Hitchcock's big successes.
Captain Blood (1935)
12345678910
Not Rated
Errol Flynn's first big pirate role -- featuring a swordfight with Basil Rathbone.
Captain Kidd (1945)
12345678910
