Howl's Moving Castle (2004)

Yet another visually gorgeous anime. This time, however, the story is more in-tune with old Disney flicks. It has the same kind of sweet, old-fashioned romanticism.
Noein vol. 1: To Your Other Self (2005)

My initial reaction to the artwork was annoyance. I thought it was cheap and sloppy, but as the story progresses, you realize the style fits the action perfectly. The storyline is also intriguing, enough to keep me glued to an anime featuring kids as main characters.
Ergo Proxy vol. 1: Awakening (2006)
12345678910
Cyberpunk anime. Kind of drags in the middle, but is really good, otherwise. I also love the visuals. 'Tis pretty!
Karas: The Prophecy (2005)

  Vertigo, maaan.
Appleseed (2004)
12345678910
Another visually stunning anime! ~ Companion title: Wonderful Days (aka Sky Blue) and Garasu no Kantai
Gankutsuou Chapter 1: The Count of Monte Cristo (2004)

Beautiful visuals and a moving story. My favorite anime, in fact. I love it!
Paradise Kiss vol. 1 (2005)
12345678910

This is my second favorite anime. Gorgeous and sexy, which is really all I could wish for in a chick anime. ~ Companion title: Nana and Red Garden
Ceres, Celestial Legend Vol. 1: Destiny
12345678910
Best shoujo out there (Paradise Kiss is technically josei, though Ceres might qualify as such as well, since it deals with issues like rape). It drifts between dark and moody, and light and fluffy. It also has a certain amount of sexiness to it.
Peach Girl vol. 1
12345678910

Fun older shoujo. Don't let the box art fool you, this anime looks good (though nothing compared to ParaKiss). ~ Companion title: Bokura Ga Ita
Kyo Kara Maoh: Season 1, Vol. 1 (2004)
12345678910

It's just a fun, hilarious, tongue-in-cheek anime. ~ Companion title: Ouran High School Host Club and The Wallflower
NightWalker Vol. 1: Midnight Detective (2001)
12345678910
A fluffy anime but very good. Always nice to have sexy vampires in anime. ~ Companion title: Blood Brothers
Angel Sanctuary (2001)
12345678910

Kaori Yuki has a beautiful style. You just have to ignore the incest and broken storyline of this anime.
RG Veda (1992)
12345678910
CLAMP movie that never really had an ending, like several others on this list. Pity. ~ Companion title: xxxHOLiC
Sorcerer on the Rocks (2002)
12345678910
Reminds me of Bastard!!, and just like Bastard!!, is cut short. *sniff*
Bastard!!: Complete Collection (1992)
12345678910

It's funny! It's sexy! Dark gets naked a lot! No, really, it's all about the snarky lines.
Berserk Vol. 1: War Cry (2002)
12345678910
Brutal and absorbing story. Takes a while to get into, but once you do, you can't stop watching.
Ninja Scroll (10th Anniversary Special Edition) (1986)
12345678910
Still quality anime after twenty years.
Basilisk vol. 1: Scrolls of Blood (2006)
12345678910

Great ninja anime with high production value, plenty of action and intrigue...ot to mention a little romance for the soft-hearted. The live-action version, Shinobi, has been licensed for American release, too. ~ Companion title: Bakumatsu Kikansetsu Irohanihoheto
Ayakashi: Samurai Horror Tales 1 - Goddess of the Dark Tower (2007)
12345678910

I liked the third part of this 'series' the most, but so far only the first two are out. Each DVD is a different story with a different and unique style of artwork. ~ Companion title: Mushishi
Ayakashi: Samurai Horror Tales vol. 2 - Yotsuya Ghost Story
12345678910
  See above.
Paranoia Agent Vol. 1: Enter Lil' Slugger (2003)
12345678910

Weird series with accompanying weird music. ~ Companion titles: Paprika and Kemonozume
Gilgamesh - Tablet 01: Orphans of the Apocalypse (2003)

Ahh...wonderful anime! The story kept me focused, and the score enhanced everything. Think I wanna buy the OST.
Elfen Lied: Vector 1 (2004)
12345678910

  Brutal, horrifying...and still terrific.
Hellsing Ultimate vol. 1
12345678910
Gorgeous visuals, very different from the Hellsing tv series. More gore, more action, more snark, less boring faux plot. Dig it if you like your anime violent and dirty. (Might make a good double feature with Wicked City.)
Wicked City (1987)
12345678910

cross between regular anime and hentai, but it's good for the whacky science-fiction action.
