This is a budget film made by a dedicated director and cast. If you can see past the predictable shortcomings, there are some really nice moments. The film has a Douglas Sirk-like quality visually with deceptive picture-perfect outdoor shots that hide complicated realities. In the end, the film allows some hope for a happy ending. I found that a refreshing change.
