This thoughtful documentary tells the story of the birth of one of religions most important figures, the Buddha. Director Martin Meissonnier charts the transformation of Prince Siddhartha into the Buddha, who managed to change the world with his powerful teachings. A must-see for religious historians, Life of Buddha also works as an inspirational tale for individuals of every race and religion.

| If you are new to buddhism or are interested in finding out about it, this movie is worth watching. It is full of information about where the buddha was born, and what his life was probably like during his early ministry. Great scenery, locations, locations of shrines in India. What was a bit over-worked was the 'non-factual' mysticism, demonds, etc. Being from the Theravada school, I would have liked them to stick more to the real rather than the supernatural aspects of the buddha's life. But then again, they did present both views, Mahayana and Theravada. I still give it a "10". |
