After an excruciatingly humiliating in-flight experience that culminated in a messy breakup and the untimely death of a dog, Nashawn Wade (Kevin Hart) sues the airline for all it's worth. This turns out to be a more than profitable move on his part; the lawsuit brings him a settlement in the hefty amount of 600 million dollars. Eager to prevent his experience from happening to another -- and perfectly willing to reap the financial benefits of the cash cow he believes his plan to be -- Nashawn decides to launch NWA, an all African American airline complete with sensuous stewardesses, an onboard dance club, and a bathroom attendant. Far be it from giving "flying the friendly skies" a new meaning, however, chaos ensues in the form of a white family with the unfortunate last name of Hunkee. The Hunkee patriarch (as played by Tom Arnold) and his antics prevent the flight from going as smoothly as intended. The feature debut of music video director Jessy Tererro, urban comedy regulars Snoop Dogg and Method Man co-star. ~ Tracie Cooper, All Movie Guide

I thought this was going to be really stupid. Parts of it are, but it's still funny. Kevin Hart is great as the passenger who gets his butt stuck in an airplane toilet and is awarded his own airline. Snoop Dog is not funny and not much of an actor. DL Hughly has a great part as the men's room attendant on the plane. It's the black version of "Airplane" complete with spinning plane wheel hubcaps and Tom Arnold and family as the only white people on board. Mo'Nique also has a funny part as a security guard.

it's stupid, and you'll laugh by alexjb April 22, 2005 - 1:31 PM PDT

i feel guilty for saying it, but i enjoyed the hell out of this movie. i laughed out loud repeatedly, and will undoubtedly watch it again :)

this is totally Airplane for 2004, with every black person stereotype you can possibly think of (and some i'd never though of). method man is lame, snoop dogg is almost asleep, kevin hart is a less funny Chris Tucker; the plot is silly and totally unrealistic, as are some of the sets.

BUT the gags (mostly visual) ROCK! Mo'Nique is very funny and gets a couple of good scenes; john sitherspoon (who's got a great track record, of course) rises to the occasion as a blind passenger in first class (think of his character in Boomerang). tom arnold and family as the only white passengers have some really funny bits as well.

go ahead and rent it! it's not like anyone will see you holding it in line at the video store! ;-)
