For anyone who has not seen any Turkish cinema, Turkish Star Wars is certainly the best barometer you can find. Using actual footage from the original Star Wars, the story is about 2 space fighter pilots who are shot down over a desert planet and discover a colony of people who are being oppressed by horse back riding mutant savages! It's up to them to save the people from the oppressive mutants! Combining life size evil Muppets with a Flash Gordon like bad guy; and stealing not only footage and soundtrack from Star Wars, but music from Indiana Jones and others.
PLEASE NOTE: This film is in Turkish with NO English subtitles.
This title is only legitimately available as a DVD-R.
Unfortunately, some older DVD players are unable to play this disc. If (or when) another version becomes available, we will replace all copies of the film at that time.

This movie something like what would happen if Plan 9 From Outerspace had desert power ranger fights and muppets. And was shot in Turkish with no english subtitles. And stole freely from Star Wars and subtly from Indiana Jones. But funnier and with more latent homoeroticism.
The perfect movie to play during a party where people will be drinking a little and maybe loud music is playing. Could this be what they meant when the filmmakers said they made this move for prestige? |

| "Turkish Star Wars" is a bit misleading. While the filmmakers did, ahem, appropriate some Star Wars footage, the "meat" of this movie involves lots of hand-to-hand combat between the protagonists and various mutants, henchmen and even a robot. If you love low budget sci-fi goofiness, this movie may tickle your funny bone. It cries out for the Mystery Science Theater 3000 treatment. Some of the mutants look like yeti mummys and others look like rampaging piņatas. No subtitles (and not speaking the language), leave you in the dark about some plot details, but overall you can enjoy the crazy battle scenes, costumes and stunts. |
