This is a cheesy romance starring an Arquette. The description makes you think it may be about two gay men, or about their amazing ability, or about dolphins - but no! It seems like it was written by a 12 year old girl. It is predictable. Disappointing!

I saw the cut American release and did not remember it being this good! Can there be a better complaint for a director's cut? Eric Serra score is wonderful, too and the "isolated score" feature is a nice bonus. But it is the contrast of the three personalities and the interplay between them that makes the film special.

Beautiful movie set in Italy and Greece and S. America. Felt some sexual tension b/w the dolphin and the leading guy at times- kinda odd. R. Arquette kinda brought down the movie- why was she the female lead? bad choice- she's too american maybe an unknown european actress would have been a smoother choice. this movie makes suicide into a beautiful act where man and nature commune- suicide is not beautiful. but overall, great movie.

with very little in the way of plot.. with very little in the way of dialogue.. "le grand bleu" takes you on a journey inside of your own soul. watching the intensity of reno, marc-barr's looks at the ocean. you would be left with no words to compare. like watching your first born.. the love of your life for the first tyme.. or being happy for the first tyme. it's a truely amazing movie.. beautiful in every way.
