In this Z-grade Italian "gorror" movie, an American student and her friends go on a tour of the Greek islands and find themselves victimized and eaten by a disfigured psychotic cannibal who thinks that eating the flesh of strangers will help him atone for eating his own family after they were shipwrecked. | You have to be a Eurotrash lover to enjoy these kinds of movies to begin with but sitting through a cut version is even more torturous. The reason we put up with the wooden acting, long drawn out scenes of scenery,ludricrous dialogue and situations,cheesy gore etc. is usually for the good stuff and this movie is another fine example of the American release cutting it out. Now granted, these Italian horror flicks of the 60's.70's and 80's have an Italianess about them that really does put them in a class of their own and that's why I watch them, however cutting out the over the top gore puts a strain on even the most faithful viewer. So- either wait for an uncut US realease or buy the European dvd which usually goes for $20- $30. Anthropophagus or Antropophagus is an alternate title |
