A seemingly dim-witted safecracker is recruited by a gang of seasoned bankrobbers, only to find himself cheated out of the loot and laughed out of town. Through a series of false-starts and double-crosses, "The Ox" sets out to steal the money back and teach the local thieves an important lesson - that crime only pays when you work alone. Sundance award-winner Scott Smith wrote and directed this clever debut, bubbling with snappy film noir dialogue, sly and witty performances from Cory McAbee (The American Astronaut) and Jon Polito (The Big Lebowski, Miller's Crossing) and a retro '60s score. Grand Jury Prize winner at the New York International Independent Film & Video Festival.
