Synopses
The American Experience: FDR (Disc 1 of 2) (1997)
This four-part series chronicles the life and political career of Franklin Delano Roosevelt. This first episode looks at the early life of FDR. Born into a wealthy family, there was little about his youth that would suggest the giant of history that he would become. His entry into state politics and a significant meeting with a woman named Eleanor would change his life and the course of a nation. ~ Rose of Sharon Winter, All Movie Guide

The American Experience: FDR (Disc 2 of 2) (1994)
This four-part series chronicles the life and political career of Franklin Delano Roosevelt. In episode three, the subject is FDR's leadership of America during the Great Depression. The nation turned to this son of great wealth for a host of social programs that promised a New Deal for the common man. Archival news clips and photographs, interviews with politicians and friends, and commentary by historians present the story of America's great leader. ~ Rose of Sharon Winter, All Movie Guide

The American Experience: LBJ (1991)
This film profiles the life and political career of the powerful United States senator from Texas Lyndon Baines Johnson, who became president of the United States when John F. Kennedy was assassinated. The documentary considers this tragic figure in American history, whose social legislation, including the 1964 Civil Rights Act, has transformed American culture. LBJ may be remembered for the disastrous American involvement in the Vietnam War and the civil unrest it created in this country. Film clips, photographs, interviews, and personal recollections by friends and colleagues, as well as speeches and commentary by historians, tell the story of LBJ. ~ Rose of Sharon Winter, All Movie Guide
