Major Ram Prasad Sharma yearns to see the ambitious project Mission Milaap become a reality. The mission may prove to be the dawn of a new tomorrow, ending the long-standing enmity between two countries. But, some forces do not want that dawn to come. One of them is Raghavan who will do anything, including threatening the life of General Amarjeet Bakshi's daughter Sanjana. To protect Sanjana, Ram Prasad poses as a student at her school. But, Ram Prasad also has another agenda. He must fulfill the dying wish of his martyred father Brigadier Shekhar Sharma. This task involves intense emotions and long-standing misunderstandings, and strangely, the key to its success also can be found at Sanjana's school. As Ram Prasad Sharma struggles to carry out his dual missions of love and violence, his only mantra is "Main Hoon Na!"

This is Bollywood's "Scream", and I mean the silly post-modern horror movie rather than the Munch painting of existential dread. The director (a former musical choreographer) gives the impression of having seen far too many Bollywood movies over the course of her life. Huge amounts of standard Bollywood devices are used, in an over-the-top manner that both makes fun of the devices and employs them to their best effect. You have to love Shah Rukh Khan's bewilderment as a musical number happens, and then the music is pretty good.
Although the movie is likable overall, it could have been better. The writing isn't as good as it could be - for instance, I've seen far too many "Matrix effect" jokes, I don't need to see another! Shah Rukh Khan is actually pretty good, but as he becomes less of a straight man and more of a participant to the movie, the film loses some of its humor. And some of the scenes you would need to be a Bollywood nut to understand. |

| My advice to you is to fast forward through the first thirty minute action sequence and move to the scenes shot at the college. Most of the action scenes are poor rehashings of every other action movie with so-so wire tricks. Hidden inside is a brilliantly funny college movie that pokes fun at lots of Bollywood traditions (including casting 35-year-olds as college students). There are some beautiful and comic musical numbers that should have you rolling on the floor laughing. |
