| As a series of stills this film would be beautiful. Definately worth seeing if you are a fan of comics. |

This is "He-Man" on steroids.
Plenty of blood, guts, and gore. The rating would have been higher as there are many quite original elements to the story, but the character designs of everyone else beyond Lady Death herself are just too cliche. The animation is not the best (actually just a few cuts above the He-Man tv show itself!), although the artwork is crystal-clear. The music is quite good, about what you'd expect when you're warring in the pits of Hell. Beyond that, however, there are too many plot conveniences that push the story along much too fast.
I must admit, "Death" is a babe, and watching the sparring match that "evolved" her fighting costume of black lengerie and high-heeled boots was pretty cool (exactly what one should wear to fight against Lucifer).
With a little more effort (o.k. maybe a lot more), this might have been spoken of in the same breath as "Berserk".
