David Gordon directs this bleak drama about a gang of rural teens going astray. The title character is 13-year-old boy who lives in an impoverished corner of North Carolina. While wandering around with his rag-tag band of mates, one boy gets inadvertently killed. Fearing parental retribution, the gang hides the body. Later, matters comes to a head when guilt and anxiety starts to take its toll. ~ Jonathan Crow, All Movie Guide

GC, in their 100 most valuable indies list, says that this film is "short on plot but big on languorousness, grace and feeling".
that's probably the most generous possible interpretation of this film. there is a plot, but it's not hugely compelling, moves very slowly and doesn't really seem to go anywhere. there are some visually compelling scenes, but not enough to just sit back and watch for hours. if nothing else, i'd say it's an interesting portrayal of poor rural life, marked by a distinct lack of race issues.
