A thin thread of electronic data may be the only thing that can save a women and her family in this thriller. Jessica Martin (Kim Basinger) is a biology teacher who is kidnapped by Ethan (Jason Statham), a vicious criminal who has threatened to murder her husband and son if he doesn't get what he wants. Ethan destroys the only working telephone in the cabin where she's held, but Jessica manages to put enough of the pieces together to send out a call that's picked up by Ryan (Chris Evans), a college student, on his cellular phone. Jessica manages to convince Ryan of the gravity of her situation, but she has no idea of where she's being held, leaving his cell phone as the only link to her whereabouts -- and his batteries are starting to wear out. Cellular was scripted by Larry Cohen, the exploitation film auteur who enjoyed a major comeback with his script for another telephone-based story, Phone Booth. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

Wow I highly recommend this movie. It is action packed and funny. If you get up to do something pause the movie or you will miss something. I thought it was so good I am renting it when company comes and I have already seen it twice. It has scenes that are out of the ordinary, catch you off guard, make you burst into laughter and keeps you hanging on until the end!

If you're not watching this movie the whole time and kind of see bits and pieces of it, you may like it. In fact you may like it anyways, but it's not the best movie you'll ever see. I didn't have high expectations before watching it and so I think I actually liked it. William Macy, Kim Bassinger, and Jason Statham all have good performances despite sort of a dumbed-down script.

wow, beyond bad....way beyond. we got past the initial nausea caused by this film, and left it in the dvd just to see what would happen. apparently you just need to throw some big names together to make a movie. kim bassinger should stick to just looking pretty. oops, too late. too much plastic surgery. here is what we thought. acting? bad. story? simple, and dumb. stunts? oh so wrong. hope this helps.
