| What if the spirit and sensibility of Radley Metzger were channeled into a gay Italian porn star? If this sounds enticing (and how, for any true movie buff, can it not?), then queue up immediately for ADORED: DIARY OF A PORN STAR. Yes, it's silly, Yes, it's unbelievable. But the movie believes itself and, in the process, mows down most of your misgivings. It crams into its little-over 90 minutes so much fun and skin (no full-frontal, unfortunately), so many bizarre and interesting characters, so much soap, scenery and schmaltz that it enters into that very small pantheon of films that are simultaneously "camp" and bewitching. Director and star Marco Filiberti may turn you off initially with his self-satisfied gaze and smirks, but by the end of the movie, he proves a decent actor and a sweet--if silly--guiding presence for this whole bizarre enterprise. |
