One of the most popular television series of the late '70s science fiction boom gets a new look for the new millennium in remake, created as a made-for-cable miniseries. Four decades after the Cylon Wars, the Cylon robots (some of whom have since assumed human form) have launched a vicious nuclear attack, leaving only a few Colonial forces to lead the survivors to safety. Led by starship commander Adama (Edward James Olmos) and politician and possible presidential successor Laura Roslin (Mary McDonnell), the crew of the Battlestar Galactica searches the galaxy for the mythic 13th Colony of Kobol (otherwise known as Earth), their destination and only hope for survival. Battlestar Galactica: The Miniseries also stars Jamie Bamber, James Callis, and Grace Park. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

PLEASE NOTE: This title was originally announced as a single-disc release (a double-sided DVD), but most copies (including almost all copies we carry at GreenCine) were instead issued as 2-disc sets (each side of the original DVD has been pressed as separate discs). Unfortunately, the menus weren't updated to reflect this -- they instruct you to flip the disc over for additional content, when they should tell you to swap discs. This disc contains the entire feature.

The 1st disc of the first season is the same 3 hours of the miniseries, with only inconsequential additional material (e.g., an additional 2 minute opening scene).

Rent disc 1 of 5 of the 1st season or the Miniseries, but there's no need to rent both.

If you are a fan of science fiction in any way... you need to see BG. by Neutron March 21, 2006 - 12:11 PM PST

Forget preconcieved nostalgia based memories of the original series, the new Battlestar Galactica is devastating in it's awesomeness.

While there are many great science fiction shows out there, what makes BG so great is that it focuses on the PEOPLE involved. Without giving away spoilers (and oh, would I be giving some away if I said too much), the conflict that is involved with the characters, all played by a very stellar cast, is what drives this show.

That and the almost "documentary" style of shooting it makes it a fiercely unique show all of itself. The only thing I can even compare it to is Joss Wheadon's excellent and short lived Firefly series, please believe me when I say in the subject line that this is a must see!

Eclectic Taste ~ Always a WIP
Such a lame title for a list, but an eclectic taste deserves an eclectic list. Be forewarned, I have superficial tastes.
