Independent filmmaker Caveh Zahedi approaches legendary songwriter Will Oldham (Palace, Bonnie "Prince" Billy) with the unusual proposition of taking psychedelic mushrooms together. Surprisingly, Will accepts. They meet up in Austin, Texas, with longtime collaborators Greg Watkins (A Sign from God) and Thomas Logoreci (In the Bathtub of the World) to film the results.
This title is only available as a DVD-R.

This movie is great. Loosely based on the near cult-classic TV series "Fishing with John," SF Film maker Caveh Zahedi, takes legendary song-writer Will Oldham on a journey through the world of hallucinogenic drugs in a cabin in the woods of Autin,Texas. The film's length is perfect(30 minutes. It could have gotten old pretty fast!), as is the sparse but funny/intriguing dialogue. Highly recommended for fans of Mr. Oldham's music (there is an incredible version of "Call me Bonny" in the film!), watching people high on drugs step on bee hives, hallucinogenics, Caveh Zahedi, etc...

Hey, this film was great, what could be better than watching two interesting, lovable, unique individuals take mushrooms together? I enjoyed the film. Its short, but it gets the idea across that caveh and will have almost nothing in common except their art and their willingness to love each other despite their differences... Caveh did a great job of being even-handed in the editing process, leaving in the stuff that made the trip awkward. I loved the shot of Will riding maniacally around on the Go-cart while caveh lies meditating on the lawn. Thanks Caveh and Will, for sharing a fun afternoon.

Will Oldham has a place in my heart. One of my teenage loves sent me Palace music mixes, and songs such as "i tired to stay healthy for you" still make me swoon. So I was eager for this one, a potential feast of Oldham and Zahedi brilliance. I was disappointed, though. The thirty minutes crawl by uneventfully, the sexiness of this amazing musician is untapped, and the climax is a bee sting.
