| Don't miss A DAY WITHOUT A MEXICAN. Unless you're completely clueless regarding the situation of Latinos in the US (or perhaps live some place in which there are no Mexicans, Central or South Americans), this witty and unusual comedy will entertain and educate you in equally delightful doses. As humorous and free-wheeling as "Maria Full of Grace" is serious and somber, the movie may work best if you go into it with as little knowledge of the plot and situation as possible--and discover its inventive surprises along the way. Everyone concerned here ought to be proud. It's rare that any comedy hits the bull eye as often as this one; even its soap-boxing (and I admit there's a lot of it) is done with intelligence, energy and charm. |
