| The Filipino CRYING LADIES may be a soap opera, but it's one so filled with charm and good cheer that you may find yourself won over pretty quickly. Unfolding throughout the several days it takes to mourn a deceased father and husband, the story includes family members and hangers-on as well as the three title characters and their lives. Well cast and acted by some of the Philippines' foremost stars, and well-enough written and directed to pull you along, this is an intriguing, enticing (though probably skin-deep) look into Filipino culture. Try it. |
