| I hear excerpts of Hicks sometimes when I scan the Sirius comedy channels and had already summarized him as a bitterly witty man of low tolerance for differing points of view. On this DVD, he shows terrific stage presence and endurance, although he loses control of his material letting it drag him. His comedy lies in his rant, which he mainly does in this show of his talent. I find here few jokes to quote and even less uplifting philosophy, nothing to pass to today's youth, but a lot of attitudes to steer them away from - such as his views on smoking. A gifted performer with a supercritical judgmental attitude that I find interesting, this show merits a moderately good rating: 7. |
