Stewart Raffill directs the high-action comedy caper High Risk about a four-man band of theives trying to pull off the perfect crime. Stone (James Brolin), Tony (Chick Venera), Dan (Bruce Davidson), and Rockney (Cleavon Little) hire two inept airplane pilots and plot a major heist. The plan is to rob a mansion in South America belonging to the wealthy drug lord Serrano (James Coburn). After they break open his safe and steal five million dollars, they try to escape the jungle while being followed by the Columbian army and a group of bandits led by Mariano (Anthony Quinn). Ernest Borgnine appears in a brief cameo. ~ Andrea LeVasseur, All Movie Guide

Listen folks, I don't care how many renowned actors show up in the course of this unbelievable caper film! It still sucks! After about fifteen minutes, one may begin to realize that one saw it on television about ten years ago in the middle of a weekday afternoon while previously unemployed, and that one couldn't sit through to the finish even then.
The worst part is a white poodle that keeps turning up even after days of jungle chases covering many miles. Is it coming back to you now, how much you came to hate that little dog? Imagine a robbery so well planned that the protagonists parachute in with a white poodle for the sole purpose of distracting certain Doberman guard dogs! Now imagine those Dobermans killing that poodle ... unfortunately, this did not occur to the screenwriters of "High Risk". |
