| This film gets maligned fairly often, for some odd reason, but don't be turned off by a change in Allen's direction, it's fairly good, thoughtful and beautiful. Nykvist's camera shoots Rowlands with a genuine respect for her older beauty. Woody Allen's power in attracting first-rate casts pays off well here; Hackman, the excellent New York actor Philip Bosco and the legendary John Houseman, not to mention Ian Holm and Martha Plimpton, all give fine performances. |
